This came up in another thread and I figured this would be a good time for people to say a little bit about themselves for the benefit of the newer members and some of us older members can get to know the new guys & gals... It goes something like this: "Hi, I am (blank) and I like to (blank) with (blank)s in the (blank)ing ocean in my (blank)" thread... So, I'll probably go into a lot more detail than anyone else needs to but I'll start.
So I'll start. I go by John R here and my name really is John, I predominantly surfcast but I am also looking for a good old Seacraft 23 so I can mix it up a little. I consider myself marginally competent with a lot of upside

. I fish mainly eels, some plugs but I'm not much for a chunking from the beach. On a boat I love working live baits or drifting chunks - more so than trolling which is OK - will try to do more jigging this year - both shore and boat.
I've been married for almost 4 years

- wow, that long

to a wonderfull wife that puts up with a lot of crap from me (and some of you). We have a 2 year old son who is a great kid and he can't wait to fish with his daddy and I can't wait either.
Lessee, I live now in Rhody but I'm from just outside of Boston and lived a lot on the estuaries of the Chesapeake when I was younger where the fish were called Rocks and the BlueCrabs didn't yell back and make parody drawings of you. Got back into striper fishing in the mid 90s and have been back at it for 8 years or so. I actually thought I was good until I met my bro-in-law. I then realized what I knew about surfcasting could be written with grease pencil on the inside of a matchbook.
What else, Ok - started this site almost 4 years ago after a fun ride was over on WMI (yes the 4 year B-day comes up at the MSBA show!). This is not how I pay my bills but it is fun, a great community where I've met incredible people. we have a lot of fun fishing too. It's making it thru the winter in one peace that is the hard part.
I love Cuttyhunk, Block, and the Vineyard and my wife thinks I'm nuts to consider using a boat to go to Cutty to fish the shore at night

... other than that - can't wait to fish...
