Corey. good to have you aboard! i think we met last summer at the shop. i was in with Tattoo a couple of days after the Iron man had his little run in with the wave. glad to see a shop that has finally seen the light regarding this color! thanks.

9 Bucks!!!
I agree with Krispy. 9 bucks is a little high for a bomber.. I pay 6 bucks a piece. Now, I understand that this is a custom order but if I am buying say 15 plugs I don't get a discount and shell out about 135 bucks. Can someone explain if there is a custom color charge which could justify the 9 dollar price tag.

Guys, this is the Long bomber, not the smaller 3 hook one. And the store is in Newport It may be a bit overpriced, but where else are you gonna find one?

lets see now if I have this right,,,someone is getting somewhere in the naba hood of 50 or so plugs for say x number of $[cost] that means the remaining plugs to be sold have to pick up the lost profit from those, so the remaining plugs get bumped up in price to cover the cost of the ones given away....how am I doin so far??
I'll pass.

CapeSams,
Wrong! I pay the same price as the rest of us and have no problem doing that.
The plugs cost over $5.50 EACH because it's a special order, add shipping to that, the cost and fear of putting up the money for 600 of these things and I think $8.99 is a damn fair price.
If you or anyone else don't like it (the price), don't buy it, or complain about it.
Can someone find another tackle shop in the area willing to dish out over $3000 bucks for a special order, probally not.

ahh, another price debate for plugs. funny, this comes up too often. i see guys blow upwards of $20-$30 on unproven plugs that just look nice. i see guys blow $15-$20 like nothing on plugs that are proven. now, we get a lure that has been out of production for many years, from a company's lure design that is proven as a fish catcher, in a color that is in high demand and proven as well. sure, you can get 17a bombers for around $6-7 each usually, but try and find this color around? let's see, an extra $2-$3 possibly for a proven plug and color that's not available anywhere. i have no problem coughing up the coin for 1-2 dozen. you might have the chance to get these again, but you might not. if it's too much money for you, go buy a mambo in the same color and let me know how you make out after the thing breaks.

17A Purple/Black Bombers
Guys,
Well as far as being in Newport and over priced maybe on some things like bucktails and clothing. ALL rods/reels are mostly set at an MSRP and thats it. Unless its dicountinued you cant really have it one sale. And as far as the plugs go. Tattoo is right, for a 5% upcharge on the plug being special color its pricy. I want to work with everyone and Im open to suggestions on price. I think $8.99 is fair for a plug you may never see or be able to fish again. We dont want to get rich on these we want to give some of the guys who fish the Newport areas and elsewhere something back for being great customers. Again, Im open for suggestions and willing to work on pricing If I get comittment. Thanks guys!

woah woah woah.. why are people getting so defensive about this. I simply asked to provide a valid reason why the plugs were 9 bones each.. Seawolf, you don't need to come in and act all condescending with regards to saying if you don't like it buy a mambo....that's great that your willing to pay 9 bucks for this plug. I just wanted to know what warranted the price increase (now I know that there is a special order fee when getting a custom color.) That is all that I needed to know, plain and simple, and yes I know that this certain color produces time and time again.

WALDO,
I was the one that started the "defensiveness" not seawolf.
Here is the definition of "custom"
adj.
Made to order.
Specializing in the making or selling of made-to-order goods: a custom tailor.
If you guys dont think you will pay more for something "made to order" then maybe you shouldn't be buying them.
It doesnt get any more simple than that.

Hay guys I'll be putting them on the SWE site as soon as they get here and I'll be putting a post up as well to let you know the day they arrive. $8.99 for the plugs, it seem fair after talking to a few guys at the Antique Tackle show in Smithfield RI this morning. I found it funny that after walking around a group of tackle collectors I didn't see one plug like that. Plenty of Reverse Atoms and old Gibb's. Maybe they are as illusive as we all think. There 3-5 weeks away. Also thanks for the input guys. It wont be long now.
Corey
