Eben,
I've done that when living in Mongolia, but we used huge handmade lures that looked like big mice. I've got pictures around here somewhere...
By the way, I wouldn't go to Mongolia for the midlife crisis trip; great adventure, but not exactly tropical...

realty has set in. looks like a 10-16 day long range tuna trip out of san diego is going to be the trip - unless someone wants to buy one of my kids. giant yellowfin 250-350#, mahi, wahoo, yellowtail - should be fun

Flight to Seychelles is a killer... figure on 28 hours. Non stop from London or Paris is 10-12 alone. Ten timezones one way.... you are pretty screwed up when you get there, so make that stay a long one... Wouldn't even think about a connection in east Africa these days on a security basis, with or without family.

How about a girl half your age that loves fishing, drives a 57 T-Bird, and has relatives that live in Costa Rica? They're a dime a dozen, right?

I'm in for most anything, but these days its a toss between Roosters and Musky. Something to be said about surf casting off the beach in Costa Rica for those monster Roosters, but a puddle jumper in Canada for trophy Musky has always been a dream trip for me.
