Yeah, me and the girl had just been in the water maybe 100 yards down to the right in the pic - that's how I have a pretty good idea that it was about 6' deep where the shark hit. But shark are after tasty seals, not fat white guys...In speaking with the head shark guy for the state he thinks the shark had been in front of me for some time just waiting for his shot.
Haven't posted in a while because of all the life events that have come down the pike - parents aging, running a business, girlfriend with dog, beach closure, seals eating everything in the ocean so I don't even bother getting up, etc. but I thought that the viewing audience would truly appreciate these. I actually have 40+ more shots that I just reviewed for the 2nd time and there are some other good ones in there. One is of the shark going straight at the seal away from you (so it is like looking down the barrel of a gun) his dorsal is out of the water and his back is showing. Looks like a submarine, a good 3' wide.
I now think the seal came up from under the seal flipper first and bit him off at the waist. The thing was frickin huge.
Still basking in the afterglow...
