Maybe u should change ur name to Bluefish..
Ya Ya...We kinda need em lots of bass blitzes on shore happen cause the devil with fins drive or pin the bait in.they wreck ur plugs an hardware. They make tackle shop owners happy. If bass ever go away again I guess they would be the next best thing.
Thank you for makin the world a one less blue fish place.

Yeah, I hear you. I had heard of big bass taken also which was why I went down. I also heard it was more blues than bass but I figured I would give it a shot and maybe luck out with a big bass or two. It wasn't to be that day as blues just totally dominated the scene. Luckily for me I didn't lose one plug in two hours of non-stop action. But God my arms and shoulders ached so much for a couple days! A couple times I thought I had a huge monster blue or bass but turned out to be a double-header of big blues on the old beat-up pencil.

I never keep or weigh blues so I'm not sure, but if I catch a real big one I'll often measure length just for fun. I've caught many in the 36-38 inch range and fat. So maybe 17-18 pounds or so might be the biggest?
All from shore.....those alligator sized ones fight like crazy.

38" 18 Pounds 2 years ago on one of my poppers... I thought sure it was 35 pound bass... would've weighed more but it spit up 2 coffee cup sized balls of bunker.
My friend caught one a few years before on a deadly #^^^^& that measured 46" he released it... had to be close to that 28 pound record if not way over... what a horse!

consecutive casts from the beach one night two years ago, both fish were 40" and I figured over eighteen lbs. They fought so hard I still thought the second one was a bass over 40

Good job Larry.
Back in the day when the harbor was loaded with pogies, we used to chunk them up one after another,, not over 20lbs, but pretty close.
Didn't matter too much cause we lost count after like 30 each.
We wouldnt leave til we ran out of bait.

Also had a night in Quicks about 6-7 years ago that was all 15+lb Bluefish piled up on the ledge for a solid 2 hours.
Couldn't get chunks in the water fast enough, eventually gave up after being so tired you couldn't lift a rod.

This weekend last year we had fished bass all nite in "Truro." Took a quick ride over to Corn Hill mid morning. The beach was littered with all sorts of bait carnage....heads...tails....full bodies. No sign of surface activity. First cast with a popper and it was inhaled the second it hit the water. There were schools of alligator blues chasing peanuts up and down the beach. At one point in the tide we had bait clinging to our wader and blues crashing around us. Took what had to be a 20lber on a 3 oz pink surface tension. We had been into fish around 15 lbs for an hour or two, I'll never forget my brothers face when he saw the fish I hauled onto the beach. It was a freakin' slob.

I saw Larry's trophy monster Blue in Cutty--WOW, fat like a basketball. My biggest was a 19.5 pounder I caught using a 3 oz pencil on Island Beach State Park last spring. I just stood there on the beach staring at it in disbelief. Some of my friends thought I was crazy so we went back the following day and I got a 19.0 on the first cast of the morning. The guy next to me got an 18.5 pounder and it was his first day surf fishing ever.
Hey Larry,
Thanks for the plug, you and Don are great guys, we'll have to hook up sometime in the future.
-Scott
