CB2fly's comments on his Squid Flies

I ended up making a heavy large squid, I fish this fly in and around large rocks and structure in where bass can ambush this fly, i fish it very low to the structure, this fly has been very successful for me. It should ride like a clouser hook side up with an airflo cold water fast sink tip in rips and sharp drop offs. This has the possibility of catching fish on the drop, you need to mend the line to try and keep tension on the fly the deeper you dredge the various water levels. This fly has been very good at fishing below large Bluefish blitz, when large stripers set up below the "top or middle" layer of baitfish.

small squid fly, not so much..

Billy,
I know you got my flies a while ago, I said I was going to make a small (kind of a shallow or flats type of squid)

Well, I ended up making big, ugly and heavy 3/0 clouser style SQUIDS- "as the MIB would say". They have been very sucessful for me over the years when fished deep with the Airflo Forty Plus Coldwater sink tip, low & slow. I think I am getting sick of winter, ready to go out with these spring temps.

Hey Guys,

Got the flies and the swap is all closed up. You should be getting the same number of flies back that you sent in (its a bit of a mix n match since we only had 7 tiers). If you sent in more than 12+1 I assumed the extra flies were for me (thank you to those who did). Should have them in the mail tommorow.

Enjoy!

Flies in Mail

Guys,

I went to the post office this morning and the flies are headed your way. Hopefully they'll get much use come spring. It was a fun swap and am always up for another. Note for the next one....unfortunately the post office doesnt except dated postage?? News to me, but just a heads up.

Best of luck on the water!

I am really liking the Shrimp pattern for the flats, can't wait to use it....
That will go nicely with the clear intermediate line for the Veterans 9 WT outfit we are collaborating on...I am just now seeing that you were part of the swap.
Nicely done!!

I agree, that looks like a great fly. I'll have to get down to the cape or RI and catch up with CB for some flats action!
