The Country Club in Brookline ranks near the top, but The National on Long Island was by far the best golf experience I have ever had. Incredibly exclusive and meticulously maintained.

NGLA is a real special place. As luck would have it, my college roommate took over the reigns there a few years ago and I've been able to play it several times over the last decade despite not having a seat on the NYSE. They're also hosting the Walker Cup next week and one of my staff members is heading out to work on the crew for 4 days.

BTW, in the pic below my drive went OB.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Definitely a special place. I recently read the Walker cup was going to be held there, I can't believe the members let it happen.

BTW....takeaway looks fine, must have caught a bad bounce as you were trying to work it right to left over the bunker.

Ritters in Bridgewater is pretty much wide open and fairly moderate course...

Farm Neck on the vineyard drops down to $65 starting 10/15, 18 holes including cart (normally $160 in season). 5 days still left in the derby after 10/15. Good opportunity for a golf/fishing outing to remember. Chase the ball during the day and the stripes at night. Just a wild azz idea, but you could do 4 man teams in an 18 hole scramble and the same four fishing as a team that evening. Prizes for lowest team score and biggest team striper.

Johnniesax and I were just talking about this the other day. I would take the reigns on this and handle the planning. Unfortunately I am in the process of purchasing another house and my schedule between work and negotiations etc. is limiting my availability for other things aside from limited fishing.

I would be happen to work with a couple guys to make a plan for next season to establish the SB open where most twosomes can beat any three some. I think there is enough interest. Maybe we could establish a fee for the tourney and maybe we could get sponsors to donate some prizes with a side skins pool and donate the left over cash to say the Jimmy Fund? With enough planning ahead this could be a great event.

I had the privilege of playing National 2 years ago. I broke 100 and felt good about it. Wicked tough course.

I'm off the week ending Friday September 20th, so if we can get some guys together, that would be a great week for me personally. I'm taking the Thurs-Friday ahead of the Columbus Day holiday. Plan to golf and Tog fish hard both vacations, but will make arrangements to hit some balls anytime.

Farm Neck is a nice track. We make a trip every April, twilight rate is around $35 and you can easily get in 18 if you don't get stuck behind a slow group.

A Derby/Duffer double would be great!
