Saw albies rolling on SW shoal yesterday while seabass fishing. Probably a sign they'll be inshore soon on schedule.
Wish they were bonito, however.

congrats that is a big bone!
my weekend fishing plans got scraped, spent sunday morning / first half of the day in newport with the wife and dog, saw the small boat armada chasing a small school of something, looked fishy to me...
I might sneak out tomorrow am if I can before work, my schedule sucks until like the 14th, can't fish much until then!

Went out Saturday morning with my son specifically targeting Bones & Albies. I'm proud to announce he broke his cherry twice - 1st of each caught. Caught 15+ between us and left them biting. Still working on the video.

Brenton was rough yesterday AM. 4' with a shi$%y 2 foot chop on top of it. Live pogies on a 3 way with 4 oz of lead was the trick for Stripers. Had a really nice fish in the high 20s come unbuttoned right at the boat.
No Albies or Bones.
Better to have hooked and lost than not hooked at all.

I went out yesterday morning with my younger brother to find some fish. It was his first time on my boat and first time saltwater fishing.
The water was filthy dirty and a little choppy. We sighted a few small pods here and there but no hookups until late in the day, when I finally made a cast into the middle of a pod and got one. A little later on my brother got a nice keeper striper...his first ever!
Best part for me was seeing him having such a good time.

I hooked and landed 5 today from shore and had a couple other blow ups. Got em all on a casting egg with a white red gill. They wouldn't touch any metal today and couldn't get the jumping minnow out far enough.

Everything is better on the rocks.

I'm 3 for 3 so far from the shore with the fly rod
I have noticed the albies I've caught / seen caught so far are on the small side.
I'm hoping this full moon tide on friday brings in the motherload!

Found the motherload and crushed them this morning from the kayak. 10 on the flyrod, and at least 8 on the spinning rod, I stopped counting...
Got 2 pigs on the fly, probably around 10-12 lbs. took me 20 minutes to bring those guys in, I was sweating after that!!!! :but:
Time for a nap! my arms are shot!

We did good today from the sand, which was a nice change of pace, board shorts and flip flops.
Out fished the boat guys which is always nice
Albie snax on weighted owner hook, albie snax on the new Joe baggs jigheads, hogy epoxy jigs and the bigfish savage tadpole, rebel jumpin minnow all worked today.
Love seeing a few break away from the pod to chase down topwater and crush it.
Was a nice morning. Was back home by 10am
