If you are craving some good musicianship this ones for you. Luv the guitar work, Martin Barre in this. Very underrated album, except for bungle in jungle which got good airplay and worn out IMO, but rest of album is very good
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
while I am on Ian. These 2 may be my favorite tune by them, Classic 70's music. Wore these albums out, but still have it. Ian was always a ball live too and the music always sounded as good as the album.
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
I always thought Martin was fantastic, just pushed to the back a bit by Ian being the front man. Plus there is alot going on in most Tull, not usually your straight forward rock stuff which is what makes them great in my mind. But when you really listen in, there is Martin playing some great stuff.
This week was Mahavishnu though (speaking of guitar playing, Johnny is a way top fav!!)
(warning, may be an "acquired taste" this stuff, or require some chemical preparation should we say)
Jean luc Ponty. Man he is getting old looking, aren't we all. I've been listening to him for many, many, years and he has never failed to amaze me with his talent and the guys he surrounds himself with. Besides he played with Frank so that right there tells me he is one hell of a musician.
For me this is music my friends
"A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real"
Last time I saw Ponty was about 25 years ago. He actually looks OK for that long a time. Better than most anyways. Imaginary Voyage to Cosmic Messenger are my favs. Great stuff that!
Dan for me this week. Mostly listening to Skunk solos....like (dueling with Diaz and trading solos here)
and
and
and
and one for Paul (Larry solo of course)
Many consider this to be the finest guitar solo of all time! You go Larry!!!!!
I can't pick Dan favs, too long a list. There are a few I do not really care for, and then all the ones I do. Depends on my mood at the time more than anything else to pick which album to listen to. You coming to the North Shore leg PM? Bob H
Bout time. Rain in Spain is a fav of favs. Whatever happened to Jimmy Nalls? He was just great with these guys. Was listening to one of the tracks on the disks you made and just smiled when the drum "duet" started. Straight out of the Allman Bros.
Hows bout some DREGS!!!
or Dregs with Jaco (like the man said, aint never been heard before)
38 special. their second album 78 I believe. I have this album but it is out of print . I wish I had it on cd but no dice so far. Great album. Can't believe someone finally put up some of this album on u tube. I've been looking for a few years.
