Hey John...
How will the raffle table work???
I have seen where folks buy a ticket(s) and, if their # is called, get to choose a prize from the entire offering or where a basket is placed in front of each item on the table and you put your ticket(s) in the basket(s) for the item(s) you wish to try for.
Just wondering,
Rob

Here are the prizes for raflle & Auction:
The hall: Don Blizard & GBoutdoors!
GB again: Donating boat rods!
Don Blizard - The entertainment (no - he's a DJ )
Chefin': Rick Bomba
Bernzy: Some Custom Bernzy plugs
Got Stripers: Assortments of Ledgerunner Baits
Fisherwoman & BC : Assortments of BJGS Teaser Rigs
Cap'n Chet of Nor-east Charters: "Certificate for a Fishing Trip or Round Trip Transport to Cuttyhunk Island from New Bedford".
GB again: Donating boat rods!
Chubsdad: Items for the raffle table (CD is a professional scrounger having supplied the MSBA raffle table for years )
Slipknot: Donated Plugs
Bloocrab: The First Print!
J.Habs: Go figure , Plugs!
MikeCC: Lot's of goodies he says after he gets back from the national tackle dealers show!
Van: tackle assortment
Saltheart & Smokey: 6 Skin Jigs & 6 Smiling Bill's
I have a couple things I'll rummage thru to bring...
There are more and some others have expressed interest too and I'll get that info up as soon as I can! Please let me know if I missed anyone or anything!
I'm also looking for people's opinion on what should be raffled -v- auctioned. Like Nor-Easter's trip would be auctioned as I think Bloo's Print... What else does everyone think?
Thanks,
John

WOW! That is a lot of great stuff! Thanks to all the folks donating!
Per my post above:
I kind of like the idea of baskets on the table in front of each item being drawn from. That way you put your ticket(s) in for the item(s) you wish to try for. But either way is fun and, that's what it's all about!
I also agree Cap'n Chet's Charter and Bloo's print should be auctioned! What great donations!
I'm psyched so many folks are going to attend. I've been a member of a few boards for years and rarely get the chance to meet the members.
What a great opportunity we have here! Thanks for putting it together!
Regards,
Rob

<< Raffle vz. Auction >>
I really don't think my drawing deserves "auction" status, but Chet's donation DEFINATELY does. It would raise more $$ that way. Members would still buy raffle tickets, as well as bid on 'his' trip. Thats a great thing your doing Chet. When I first saw you from Greg's boat and you waved that "bat" at me, threatening to break my claws... I knew you were a keeper!!!
God Bless you Chet -
... especially if I end up with that charter...heehehee

At the Bristol Cty. Sportsmans' banquet they do a chinese(sp) auction sort of thing. For e.g. $5 buys you 10 tickets $10 buys you 25 tickets. You can then put as many tickets as you want in a bucket or buckets. For the big ticket item they sell a deck of cards for say $20 a card/52 chances. The card thing seems to go over well as everyone has a chance regardless of how deep their pocket is or isn't. Just my humble .02$

I suggest a simple rafle for everything except Chet's trip which is a big ticket item. Sell tickets , put all in a barrel , announce the prize and then draw the ticket for that item. That way you can spread the nicer stuff out over the entire night to keep it enteresting.

I think a bucket in front of each item will work. All tickets cost the same so you can choose which item you want a chance or more to go towards. Of course Chet's item should cost more per ticket, so should be a different color or something to differentiate them.
This ought to be fun.

Raffle vs. Auction?
My personal opinion is that all should be raffled but the big items like Chet's charter and Bloo's drawing be separate raffles all together.
I like the idea of x amount of tickets for ?$. for the bulk of the raffle.
For the big items make it X per ticket and maybe a little break for 3??
Just a thought?

Van I have not talked to John about that yet but will have an answer for you in the next day or two. I would be fine with mailing out tickets to all that want to get them now and anyone that can not make it but wants to buy a ticket as a donation to the site. There has been a problem come up with the Tiverton Rod and Gun club and they can not have the hall ready for us on the 15th. I talked to Don and John and was able to get us the VFW hall in Fairhaven for the night. As some had asked about alcoholic beverages this will work out better as they have a bar and they will be open that night. I will post directions to the post. Hope that no one has any problem with the change but it could not be helped.
Guess I should have read Johns post first as he has already posted the answers . Thanks John

Should I bring bring clams (littlenecks/steamers)? There are good tides on on 2/13 & 2/14.

I'm going to be coming, with or without the wife. She is undecided at this point.
I would like to know what you would like me to bring, - food, drink, raffle table stuff. I'm open to your recommendations.
Thanks guys,

Wow, I'm really out of the loop here. This is pretty cool.
I'd really like to attend, but I have no idea what's in store for me and the family over the next few weeks. The twins could be home any day now... then we have some family coming in to help out over the next month.
If we have someone to babysit, Karen and I may try to make it. Is there a cutoff date for tickets?

Greg - for you & Karen - there is no cutoff date (my wife might cut something off if I stopped you two from this shindig )
We'll talk (I would have mentioned this but you two have had much more important things going on)

I don't know that I can make the event (two-week old at home) but I would definitely like to support the site. Where can I send a check? I'd would like to meet some of you along the way. It sounds like I might cross paths with some of you on Cuttyhunk. I've got a family place out there. If you're ever on the island just ask someone where find Slater...
I personally enjoy this site for the Rhode Island info. I grew up in North Kingstown on Narragansett Bay but now live in Mass. Reading some of the RI post brings me back to my childhood on the water from Wickford to Newport. Thanks.

Smokey is coming too. as of today , the women are out do to work conflicts but that could change at any time. I'd like them to go. Good for them to meet our friends . So anyway , add Smokey to the list. We'll bring an extra case of soda on top of what I already committed to.
