Nah, it wasn't you. I happened to be in Bourne and Falmouth today, and if someone is claiming that it never gusted to more than 45 on the Vineyard today, then I'm raising this:
Because it's STILL gusting more than 45 in freaking Buzzards Bay.
At 4:30 PM there were measured gusts to 66 at Hyannis airport.

Yep. Water was supposedly going over the bridge of flowers. Unbelievable.
Further downstream they're worried about the Stillwater Bridge, which takes Interstate 91 over the Deerfield. 91 has been closed since around 3pm yesterday between exits 24 & 26. The normal detour of Rtes 5&10 was also closed, just reopened this AM. What a cluster that must've been.
And the covered bridge on Eunice Williams drive in Greenfield(the "pumping station" as it's commonly known) was knocked off it's supports but somehow didn't wash away. This bridge in Bartonsville VT wasn't so lucky: http://t.co/oCixrjk

So i lose power yesterday morning and there were about 75 power company trucks staged at a couple locations in town. This morning i drive past about 50 that are still staged, but 4 miles a way i dont have power. Something isnt adding up. i realize that when the wind is honking they cant work but there was barely a ripple on my lake when i jumped in at 430 this morning. The water temp dropped about 10-15 degrees.

We had mandatory evac. Sat. at 4:00. Police/Fire came around at 10:00 PM asking people to leave. Lost power 6:00 AM. Around 11:00 the tree came down across the street blocking the road. I cut some branches off so cars can be by.

A little later my neighbor came by and we all went walking around the hood and to the beach. 2nd picture is around the corner (Emma the cutie is my God daughter). People were kayaking up the street.

The 3rd picture is the road I walk to to go to the beach. The road ends at the beach.

Yeah, no wind in Fairhaven at all.
None.
Those aren't 3-4 foot rollers building in a quarter of a mile. Nope.

This picture shows what we think of smokers in our town.
Next picture is of St. Mary's in Bport.
Last is off the road around the Marina.
I didn't take any pictures of the skate park where kids were swimming and diving into the water.
I still don't have power but the neighbor's do so I ran an extension cord for the some lights and to keep the refrig. running.
Hope everyone else was as lucky as me.

Irene just prior to making landfall in NC....
I bet they don't think they got hyped...
lots of trees down here in Orleans, still a lot of power outages, some structural damage, even a couple of small fires, from blown transformers.. and such.. not much rain, but we sure got some wind.. I, for one, am convinced that this was a "real storm".....
but, I am sure the conspiracy terrorists will say different.

the ramp and breakwater there were completely underwater. was thinking about walking down past the summer homes to see what it looked like at the point but thought better of it since it was getting dark. could see waves coming up to the road too.

Raise whatever flag you want (just don't raise the hurricane flags)...this was no hurricane:
we get winds like this in Nov and throughout the winter
We never had that 747 like roar you get when a hurricane passes by. Most of the inland reporters with handheld anemometers were hard-pressed to find wind speed >15mph
This plot is the windiest place around these parts
Karl...that is a great photo.

Lost power yesterday afternoon and it's still out. Luckily we didn't have any damage to the house or property, other than a couple small branches down. We got the important stuff from the fridge into a marine cooler last night and now my biggest concerns are my pool being a huge mess and my eel tank not having power for the airator. I can't complain about anything considering some of the damage I saw on my way into work today.

Most anemometers including BUZM3's can't handle instantaneous gusts and never report true wind speed.

Since my fridge died on Friday, I have been able to successfully keep things cold and frozen by placing dry ice in the freezer. If you can locate some, it works great.

Falmouth had gusts to the low 60's once the wind came SW and probably a 3 foot surge. Great Harbor in WH was wild and there is no way you wanted your boat there, but sheltered places like Quissett were fine. I left my boat in and it was fine. The tree damage was mostly limbs or dead stuff. A lot of people out driving around in the storm. Surf drive got sanded over and the herring runs all plugged.
It would be a good day to go beach combing.
I'm guessing 3-4 days before things are fishable again. Took a week after Bob.
I'm hopeful this blow will have moved those bass off chatham into Nantucket sound and set up an early september fishery we get some years.

From a buddy who did a harbor tour in NB about an hour ago, 2 boats were NOT damaged that were on moorings yesterday.
Thats one hell of a non-event.
