To sum up my thoughts on S.B., and so youze guys don't think all I do is heckle or "tongue in cheek" ,,, << as I've been described as on many occasions<<.....
Butt - when you've been fishing a long time and/or have been on this site for a long time.....you seen and read
almost everything. New guys like answering questions like they're old guys....old guys don't reply as much because they feel like their record is skipping...I don't fall into either category, I don't know chit, I don't pretend to know chit, and I don't try selling chit. I just like fishing.....Ask me what model my rod is...

, ask me who made the plug I'm fishing....

I can't retain things like I used...and I ain't that old, I just been sippin' Raven's kool-aid too long.
Can we ALL continue learning? Sure...., but most become creatures of habit. Someone may try a different way to fish (a lure, a spot, etc)...but in the end, the old habit will prevail. After all, it's worked successfully on and off most of their lives. most don't try fixing what's not broken
Is S.B. what it used to be? Yeah, for the most part......are we who we used to be? No......some have been used and abused or know of others who have over the years, it got old so they stay quiet for the most part. Some guys like to talk about fishing, others actually GO fishing....The real good guys have found a way to stay numb to it all and just keep Elmer Fudging along...I still check in every other day or so....but honestly, it's more to read how everyone's doing (in general).
It was because of a post last week that I ended up spending almost an hour on the phone with Clammer. That's what makes it all worth it to me....trying to stay connected with the people I've met over the years. Leo said it best...."That's what made the difference, Meeting you guys".....I'm glad to have met the people I have on here (in person, not behind a keyboard)....yeah, I got burned once or twice, but the good times and laughter we've shared over the years were well worth it.
It's been pretty obvious that over the last 5 years or so, a new wave of S.B.ers have formed. They too have found a way to connect. The site is still working fine.......but as the tide changes, it sometimes pushed the old seaweed out to sea for awhile.
I don't personally mix FB or social media's with this site or fishing, but the Ffreak is right, they each have their own purpose...it's the idiots who use it as a personal billboard that sour everyone's thoughts on it.
I think a good thread to discuss would be something like.......would fishing have been better if the internet never existed?
