looks like next year we're gonna have to charter both boats. so we've got togfest, and now codfest, what's next albiefest or maybe sharkfest. is there any interest out there in a 2 or 3 day trip to the canyons on a partyboat?
|

No worries either way zacs. If there's a spot I'll definitely take it. If not, I'll probably chase gobblers in VT that morning. I'll be happy either way.

I got an e-mail from Joe this morning confirming the trip is full and asking that no more calls be made to clipper fleet to book slots.

Now that the boat if full, can we start scalping tickets?

Ok, I have the official list from Clipper. I will put this in order of spot occupied, but it is going to take a while to match up real names to screen names. PM me your real name if you haven’t already
The boat is organized like the pic posted earlier.
Going clockwise
Spot 1 is the starboard bow most forward spot
Spot 10 is stb. midship.
Spot 18 is stb. corner on the stern.
Spot 25 is port corner on the sern.
Spot 32 is port midship
Spot 40 is the port bow most forward spot
the list is going to take a few... bear with me.

Niko, I've been trying to fit in a Canyon trip on the Helen H for several years now. I'd be up for something like that.

I've been to the Canyons a bunch; a few with Huck on the Helen H. Worth every penny. Every trip I've caught yft's with them. Joe is a very good captain with a fantastic network.

Just wondering if anyone is going to try jigging with a spinning rod? Ive wondered how it would be for cod. It does look like it would be fun, not sure how it would be on a party boat with all the neighbors though.

i see guys using spinning setups pretty regular. i was fishing next to christian 1 day last year, we were goofing on his spinner, he proceded to outfish us all day. i would think it would beat up most reels though

You more than likely will be fishing in betqween 260- 320' of water... the tide runs hard out there.. going to be mighty tough to hold bottom with a tiny jig...

I wouldnt be trying it, but would like to see someone else give it a whirl. It would make for a tough dangle angle with a light jig.

A friend of mine does well jigging for cod in the GoM with an OTI rod and a VS... Uses heavy butterfly speed jigs. Says he has no issues holding bottom, but he's fishing from his own boat and doesn't have to worry about 39 other anglers
