A point of information. If you check the original, I think you'll see that the lip slot is above midline to bring the line tie higher.....at least on the large Pine version (and both of the smaller swimmers). I have not seen an actual original large Surface Swimmer....as opposed to the more common Pine Swimmer which is a subsurface plug......do you have one by chance? The bassdozer article implies it had a smaller lip than the Pine , which uses a Pikie 3 Lip (exact).

I have a SS New In the package 6 inch Donny danny if thats the right frase. It's marked deep swimmer. It has that same lefty type lip, the line tie hole is in the upper position and the lip slot is cut is cut in the mid position..Which makes sense as when I tune the line tie up, the lure digs down..
This is the interesting part.I weighs 2.5 onces and is about the size of the old smaller version of the beachmaster danny's.It has no markings that I can tell where lead was used.So I assume it is a maple version..Judging by the size I think this would be correct..

Thanks for the heads up on the lip slot, I don't have any of the originals so nothing to compare it to. I'll give it a try on the next batch i spin up.
