Thumbs up New Creations

Had to try out my first attempts at home made plugs this AM. Sorry no pictures yet.

6" long mahogony darter. turned and through drilled, then I put an angle on the face with the drum on my belt sander so it is kind of cupped like an old bass lure I have kicking around. Put a #4 splitshot just behind the front hook. It dives about 2 feet with a very slow wobble nose down. it doesn't dart as much as the superstrike, but it does have a nice steady wobble. I just shot it with some clear finish to seal it so I could test it.

4 1/2" inch polaris style popper, drilled out the cup with a 1" bit, kind of looks like the cup on a famous RI plug makers plugs. It throws a nice bow wake with a steady retrieve and a good splash when you pop it. The weighting could be a little better, I think it might be floating a little too high in the water.

Hope to get some pictures up soon.

Fishpart - you need to upload as a jpg or gif... Bitmaps (BMP) tend to be real big...

Fishpart,

Here is the popper as promised. Weight is placed about 3/8 from the back of the plug. Plug weighs 1.75 oz.

John,
Thank You.

I plan on finishing them some time this winter, but HAD to see how they worked. Based on the way most people seem to be finishing plugs I would say it makes sense to do them in a batch rather than one at a time.

I too must learn to use the power of the FORCE
