If I was working I'd buy it .. Isn't that the reel the VS was modeled after ?

Yeah, it is Eddie.

Surfcaster, did you get that from me? If so, I can give the thread more history on this particular reel.

You bought it from me, and I did not use it. I bought it from piemma, and he only lightly used it. Here is a quote about the reel from Paul, when I had it listed in 2007;

Just to verify. This reel is mint. There is a fiber seal that goes around the spool. I have never seen a Crack 300 with the seal still intact except for this one. I only took it out once as my wife and kids gave it to me in 94 as a Christmas present. I only sold it because of leaving the surf scene for the boat. Super deal for this quality of a reel that's at least 35 years old.

And here is the original listing; http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ack-300-a.html

Quality reel with NO MILES on it...... Hope this helps all interested parties.

Just to re-enforce what Ross said: This Crack 300 has the original seal or gasket on the spool. It is literally in unused condition and, since the last Crack was made in 70 or 71, this is a mint condition 40 year old reel.

No boat, back in the suds.
