Pea soup this AM...
Guy ahead of me launches with one crew, could tell right away he’s novice,,, one of those boats that looks more like a hydroplane,,,, chit load of rods, plus radar...
I launch other side of ramp, starts to back out guy yells over, in a broken English ,,,, motor make noise but no start you know what’s wrong,,,, I shoulda hit him with both barrels but restrained myself, this guy’s going out in this chit! I says is there a lanyard on the key,,, “a what” ? Geeees, I shows him mine,,,, that was it...

Made it to monomoy and beyond without running into this guy but not without worrying about it all the way...

Welcome to the times we live in.. ain't like the old days when you knew everyone at the ramp or on thevwater,but you knew that already...daytime drive me crazy... guess that's why I fish the night shift.. the clowns are still there, but i can't see them ..most if the time..
My bug -a-boo is kayaks.. they think that they know something special as they creep around with no lights...they haven't got the message that any one and every one that's ever fished the merrimack knows about Joppa flats... the only thing they are is a hazard to navigation..someone is going to have to die before these idiots get the message...turn on your lights and leave them on!
This does not apply to the few I see regularly that run a high flyer and proper boat type nav lights.. those guys totally get it..

I was coming around Sakonnet point a few years ago and almost cut one in half. Lotsofbreeze w spray on the windshield and this dude has a green kayak and no type of flag .....I would have kept going.

I've seen them a quarter mile off the beach at 2AM.. without radar, it might have been tragic
