I got blown off the wall TWICE!!! One night I mistimed a wave when crossing a low section in the wall. Another, I was up on a rock that was not even CLOSE to getting splashed as i just didn't want to deal with it that night. Out of nowhere BANG! I was over the wall in the back side swimming in a tidal pool.

At the time (both) I laughed about it. Now i think back... things could have gone horribly wrong.

This sea is still building. Went out last evening for a short while for the last of the flood tide - really scary. Every once and a while a huge set twice the size of normal would come in. After 40 years of casting I've learned to leave before dark - big waves when you can't see them coming can kill you. Public service announcement - be EXTRA cautious for the next few days. Unlike normal conditions when you can watch a spot for 10 minutes to see what to expect - these waves are UNPREDICTABLE. I highly recommend staying away from the open surf areas - if you still want to fish duck into the salt ponds or well inside Narragansett Bay/Sakonnet River. Maybe the big ditch.

They got blasted off the ocean side. Lucky they didn't die.

I think it was a few guys in sneakers fishing for albies and maybe a couple tourists....

My friend who surfs was in the area when it happened.

We took the kids to Blue Shutters Beach in Charlestown yesterday, and they were not allowed to go in past their knees. I could not believe what I was seeing. Walls of water. Everything would be totally normal for 15 minutes, and then a set of 3 waves would come in that were enormous.

The sea was angry that day (yesterday), my friends. Like an old man sending back soup at a deli.

I was out on the Bay early this AM. Nothing unusual but I was N of Prudence. NE wind made it "lumpy" around Warwick Light and the gut in front of Conimicut but nothing I hadn't seen before. I'm sure tomorrow will be a different story.

No boat, back in the suds.
