I have never been in a gang, but was curious as to how the striper fishing was up there. Here in Montauk and Long Island In general it has been the worst season since the moratorium. The north shore which are primarily the Hudson River stock has not been as bad. I am pretty sure that RI gets the benefits of both Chesapeake and Hudson stock. In Montauk it is primarily Chesapeake stock which is why I think it is so dismal. Very muck like the 80's.

On a whole it's been a decent season. Can find a few small to medium fish pretty easily on most outings and there are enough bigger ones around to keep things interesting. Been more bluefish around this year as well to add to the action which is fine with me unless I'm eeling...

Best spring to July I've had in recent years.

July and August not so much, but a steady pick of decent fish to a couple high 20s. Lots of dinks which I guess is a good sign for stocks

Lots of snapper blues around

Chasing hard tails now

And breaking out the big stuff for fall

Best Spring up to late July since 2006. Had lots of 30# fish, a couple of 40s (2) and more 20 to 25# than I can count. Once the water warmed up I didn't chase to the Block but the Bay was super .

No boat, back in the suds.

Been pretty awful for big fish where I like to hunt. Stark contrast compared to last year.

Well, I'm a little west of RI, but I am in the same boat as ChefChris. Spring was phenominal, and not just shorts, lots of good sized fish. I've done reasonable at some of the hot spots around my area and the 'honey holes' I have are still producing. Went to the cape in July not expecting much with all the doom and gloom I see on the interwebs. Probably had the best week of solid large bass I've ever had in my life.

Don't know how to explain it, but my year does not reconcile with everything I read.

BI has been terrible for me. Ran into others there who had the same experience.

Was a real slow (dead ) spring but a decent summer i fished hard in the spring and when summer and some of the better fishing started up i took to the sidelines with a shoulder injury. But when i did get out ether me or a friend found good fish just not in the numbers of past years.
