Rhode Island Albies

Headed down to URI this weekend, curious is there are any areas near by to catch albies from the shore.... I have never fished down that way. Thanks

I actually saw one caught off the beach in Galilee, at the beach right behind George's restaurant. And I have seen them jumping within casting distance of what I believe is called the west wall, the long wall at Matunuck.

Depending on the surf conditions, the east wall of the harbor of refuge is usually much less crowded.

The fish are around the west wall for sure. On Sunday, fly fishers working the wall had more success than the boaters. The fish are very finick and you'll need to go light on your leader to elicit a strike. Access to the wall is at the end of East Matunuck Beach Road.

Good luck.

I never made it down, ended up getting a weather window and went bluefin hunting (got a 49" on a Pro Paddle)
