lots of ice up north...

watching people walk around in shorts and tank tops it's hard to believe that it's still mid winter...Monday was a good reminder how cold it is and has been in the lakes.region.. I had to chisel a ramp Saturday to get onto the ice ...over the ice flows..it took 19 holes averaging 26" of ice to kill the battery in the Ion... of coarse I carry a spare.. it was a balmy 7 degrees at 5:30 when I got there.. it warmed up to a blistering 28 degrees by 4 when I packed it in..

I fished Moultonborough Bay area (Winni) on Mon & Tues on roughly
20 inches of ice!

I didn't "slay them", but did catch some good fish.
I spent some time dragging my gear across the bay and back on Mon and stayed close to home on Tues.

Did manage to jig up some perch and sunfish (one sunfish was 9")
Also got a few lunker bass (large and small mouth) and a few 20"+ pickerel.

I WILL be heading up again next weekend for some more winter fun!

The only problem at this point would be the access points, as many are shredded from the extraction of shanties. Foot travel will be my means of transport once I get on the ice.

Sure, the ice down here is toast, but that only means that you change what gear you use to chase the fish!

I am a legend in my own mind!
