Finally got out in my Son's new ride, the boat is a sweet ride, to bad there weren't more fish around. We did pick up some schoolies and got into some decent bluefish feeding around the glades in Scituate, but no fish of any size. The only thing missing is a long shafted minkota riptide trolling motor and I'd call it perfect.

Geesh….memories.
Back in the day I did a lot of eel slinging at night around all those awesome rock ledges.
Bass were always stuffed with lobsters.
Seldom saw another soul too.

When I flipped from freshwater bass to stripers, I was fishing in a basstracker v17 ( very wet ) and Scituate was where I always launched. Fished a milk run of ledges up to outside of cohasset harbor and even up inside little harbor tide permitting. A slow day was 50 stripers with usually a keeper or two mixed in. Hence the name of my baits Ledge Runner Baits.

Spent allot of time over the last 27 years in the rocks too

Occasionally still some jumbo bass in those rocks but it just isn’t like it use to be

I fish the north river up to hull allot
Chunked allot. Bump troll live bait mostly now. The last many years lots of 25 to 32” fish but tough for large consistently

I catch some of my biggest up the river. Started to get ok this year then all the heavy rain put a damper on things.

I remember one day I wanted to take one of my freshwater bass club members out but the mouth of the river was too nasty so I took him way up inside just above bridge st and we hammered big bass with 1oz rattle spots. He’d never caught a striper and his first was probably pushing 25lbs.

I was pushing the envelope with the freshwater basstracker and the upgrade to the Lund was a bit safer, it wasn't until I upgraded to the McKee Craft 196CC I was drier and safer. Regardless of boat or kayak, I'm always in the white water wash, it's where I like to fish and those rock fish like it too.

Been working on a job so close to the water..... it has been a big distraction. Monday I watched as a boat....belonging to someone I know scour the area out in front of me. I couldnt tell if he was catching or chasing.... even with my binocculars. It was frustrating for me to have to be working on such a fine day.

So yesterday I called my nephew.....who has been on a list of people I have promised to take out on my boat...and he joined me. We had barely backed the boat away from the ramp and there were fish breaking on the surface all around us. I was driving in the river current and couldnt make a cast...but he did and immediatley hooked up with a schoolie striper. I was intent on getting out front so we headed out the mouth of the river and it wasnt long before we found birds working on bait. We both hooked up right away on some very good sized bluefish. Did a lot of cruising as I let my nephew take the helm....I know he was just enjoying the whole scene.

Later I caught two keeper BSB.....which surprised me as I was using a lure that only swims 3 feet deep. Was hoping to spot bonito or false albacore but saw none.

Fun morning with gather blues and schoolies. Chewed my plastic, but even half a bait was exploded on, its been years since I’ve seen blues of that size and lots of them.
