Christmas Storm!

CHRISTMAS AND SUNDAY...
THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM SOMETIME
CHRISTMAS INTO SUNDAY...BUT A LOT HAS TO HAPPEN BETWEEN NOW AND THEN
FOR THIS TO OCCUR. THE 12Z GFS/ECMWF CURRENTLY SHOW LOW PRESSURE
TRACKING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN U.S. INTERACTING WITH A STRONG PIECE OF
NORTHERN STREAM ENERGY. THE MODELS BOTH SHOW THESE TWO FEATURES
COMING TOGETHER OVER THE MID ATLANTIC ALLOWING FOR A STRONG COASTAL
STORM TO DEVELOP. TAKEN VERBATIM...BOTH THE ECMWF/GFS WOULD
INDICATE A STRONG NOREASTER WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR HEAVY SNOW AND
STRONG WINDS.

We'll be in Iowa. At least the storm tonight looks to be moving offshore.

OK so 2nd storm 6-7days out the weather forecasters are saying major/heavy snow. Think I'll wait until Friday (5 days out) to start listening.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

96-48 hr models are a good time to start watching, depending on the congruence of the models
This storm we really had to watch until Friday for (96 hours) for accuracy in the track.

Always fun to watch the models but not the network weatherheads

with all the moisture along the West Coast, it just depends on the location of the blocking high . Somebody on the East Coast is going to have a White Christmas

With a good 6-7" on the ground, and it still coming down at a good clip, I think the White Christmas is pretty much in the bag for the Cape.

I've heard reports of a foot or more from the lower Cape.

The smaller blue piece is the section of the storm for 12/26 right on top of the Cape. The majority of the precip is off shore here.

Snow!

NWS has finally laid their cards on the table!

15-20" BOS

Cape Islands and SE MASS less due to mixing of rain directly along the coast.

this storm at its peak is predicted to have a 965 millibar -28.48 pressure low based on the 198z GFS

Hurricane Bob had a 960 millibar - 28.05 reading when it made landfall

Glad I am outta town for a while.

Make sure you got things tied down tomorrow night.

Tough call as there is a chance of rain/freezing rain in that area

I'm looking at 12" in Wesport right now all told no drifting, It will be a heavy snow, with possible tree damage with the snow and wind.
I'm looking at 15 with a possible mix in of freezing rain, but I am close to Winniecunett and we always seem to be higher. I'm thinking not much mixing here, so I would even say 18

More updates in the morning after 2 more runs of the models. UKMET is tracking dead on for this storm. GFS,GEM, ECWMF are all over.

25-50 mi shift to the east or west could bring significant changes. ACK will see 50's tommorrow pm current track, where as Worcester will see 25 tops.

It's not gonna snow, I just put an end to it by buying a new snowblower.

I just went and bought some windshield washer fluid and 2 shovels
you should have seen the snow blower section it was a mad house,
they were wheeling them out as fast as they could load them into
peoples trucks. My snow blower fired up on 2nd pull
