Why is Italy off the charts?

Higher numbers of deaths. More men dying. numbers not coming down as in other countries.... Why?

My first thought is the high number of older people in their population, who are also smokers... Connect the dots

said the guy who finally quit just 11 months ago.....

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms.” – James Madison.

Heard that a LOT of Chinese from the Wuhan traveled to and from Italy within the leather industry as early as Nov...can't recall the source at the moment. That combined with the older population is a bad mix.

Exactly. When Jeanne and I were there a few years ago we commented on how many "old" people we saw.

don't they kiss each cheek when greeting? and yes all those other reasons mentioned

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

I’d like to think it’s age and butts. That said, think of how many Americans are in poor health.

I have seen this as well with an explosion when the Chinese flew back to Norther Italy from Wuhan at end of Chinese New Year. I have not seen anything with high pedigree source yet.

yup...in a population that expects everything that's wrong with you to be fixed with a pill or surgery you are screwed when a pill or surgery won't fix what ails you....

also read in Italy there is a huge disparity in quality of medical treatment depending on where you live...as you move south not so good

Not to mention the amount of fast food people shove in their gullet.

obviously, but NY has as many cases as all the other states combined excluding Washington State and it's pretty close, you could almost squeeze Wash. it in there...

I was in nyc 3 or 4 weeks ago(seems like a lifetime) and I could not believe the amount of foreign people Ofer where I went. I heard French italian and English everywhere. It’s a global germ hub.

Aside from the other obvious reasons mentioned this is largely due to much higher rates of testing, NY is using its own labs along with the CDC tests. I don’t know if any other states are doing or are able to do this.

This is what I know as fact. As of 4 days ago, Rhode Island was not testing anyone who had symptoms. No one was getting tested unless they were critically sick to the point of being close to death, the elderly and health care professionals.

I believe that the real number infected would make your jaw drop.
Furthermore.. because so many are infected, herd immunity will kick in soon and we will start to see a drop in non reported infections in a couple of weeks. This is why the upper powers that be keep saying “fast recovery”

It is currently unknown whether anyone can get reinfected with the novel coronavirus, which complicates plans to achieve herd immunity naturally.

We have about 2.77 hospital beds per 1000 people.
Assuming we could double or triple that somehow only gets us to 6 or 9, it requires 4x the capacity to get to 1% of the population.
Now that to the rate of infection and percentage that are serious and require intensive care.
Herd immunity without a vaccine is a fail and we could end up like Italy and Spain taking people over a certain age off life support and sedating them.

do the other states have non-reported deaths due to corona? because NY had more new corona deaths reported yesterday than all of the other states combined...unless all of the other states have a bunch of deaths that they are not attributing to the virus.... New York is way out of whack

I have a good friend who is a special forces medic for 30+ years and has seen every hotspot in the globe during these years. He convinced me that these fears are real. People can be reinfected and they are also contagious after recovery. Stay safe people.

NYC is the epicenter for this outbreak and will be the Wuhan of the USA in 2 weeks. I read that the outbreak is predicted to spike around April 20th and then start to subside.

I’ve seen nothing that makes me believe that we will not be the epicenter of this in a week.
Based on current data and spread, we will be over a million in ten days.

I find it tragic-comical with all the hospitals that were not prepared for the FIRST spike in patients needing treatment, let along the landslide of patients they've seen since.

You would think that since every flu outbreak we've had in the past 10-20 years seemed to originate in Chine.
When word of THIS virus became known, you'd think that SOMEONE would have said "Hey, why don't we prepare for this one ahead of time"???

Nope, they only prepped for the annual flu bug, and even got that wrong to boot!

All I can say is stay healthy, keep your distances (for as long as needed) and use this time to reconnect with family and friends to remind yourself about what is truly important in this world.

Oh, and get out and fish when feasible.

I am a legend in my own mind!
