More beer leaving RI

Just got the word that Oskar Blues and Great Divide are pulling out of the rhode island.

Two great beers.

If you haven't had them, give me a shot.

Great Divide Titan IPA, 6.8%

Oskar Blues Gordon IPA, 8.7%

Oskar Blues Old Chub, scotch ale, 8.0%

Oskar Blues Gubna, imperial IPA, 10%

Try em if you can.

Can't you just make the 10 minute drive over the border to get it at a MA store?

All three beer companies are getting bigger and pulling out of their smaller markets so that they can supply there bigger accounts and restaurants.

Dogfish has their own brewery/restaurant so there taking care of themselves first, only place you can get their 120 IPA, which is like 20% alc, which is crazy.

Both Oskar and Great Divide have huge followings in Colorado where there from. Their growing in popularity all over too.

Unfortunetly RI is small market, so were losing a bunch of good beers at the restuarant.

Yes MA will still have them for sale in bars and stores, so no biggie if you live close.

Does hurt the bars and niche places.

Don't forget RI taxes alcohol and Stinc Chaffee is going to be increasing that tax. These breweries have no incentive to sell in RI.

Good thing I'm 2 seconds from FallRiver(did I just say that?),only sales tax,no booze tax on my beer.

Avery Brewing Co. Announces Plans to Exit 8 States and 7 Partial State Markets

Boulder, CO - Avery Brewing Company plans to withdraw from eight states and seven other partial-state markets beginning in April. Faced with skyrocketing demand--first quarter 2011 production growth for their home state of Colorado is 81% and overall production growth is 75%--the brewery has been forced to make the tough decision or lose the ability to support all markets with a steady supply of fresh beer.

Beginning in April 2011 beer shipments will be ceased to Arizona, Connecticut, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Tennessee. Avery Brewing Company hopes to re-enter these eight states at some point in the future once production capacity can catch up with demand. The brewery is also leaving several partial state markets, including: Northern California (Bay Area and Sacramento), Eastern Arkansas, Upstate New York (outside of New York City), Central Florida (Orlando area) and Wisconsin.

Never heard of them. Where do you get them? I'll be down for a memorial day cookout and will pick some up in the Newport area if i know where to go.

Yep , the RI gov is chasing everyone out of RI. All you hear about now is businesses leaving, people moving out, etc. I have lived less than 1/2 a mile from the MA border my whole life and within 1/4 mile of the MA border for the last 46 years. No big deal for me to move just the other side of the line.

Gov Chaffee with his 36% election plurality is ruining the place for the other 64% who didn't vote for him.

There's a reason the Mob owned (owns?) Providence and much of the commerce there. Any company that's a straight-shooter doesn't have a prayer of making it in RI. Unless you're cheating, you can't profit.

Don't worry. The feds will start taxing the rest of us to the point of death and we'll all be just as screwed.

Island Creek oysters is doing the same up here in Boston. Taking care of their restaurant and not taking care of the people that got them there.(distributors).

People are pissed.
