Squid so far

2 weekends ago I absolutely killed them. Doubles and triples and filled up 3 Home Depot buckets on Friday night and 2 on Saturday night. Over 100 pounds in the freezer.

Last weekend absolutely sucked. wrong tides I guess. All I got was mad at all the boats that seemed to have the need to be 15 feet away from me. I moved 3 times after getting crowded and then went home skunked.

This weekend looks to have very similar tides so I am hopeful... I seem to do best on the flood tide and when the weather is overcast or raining.

Here's a pic from Friday May 4th, with 2 buckets worth in the sink. 15 to 20 knot winds and miserable, but worth it.

I will be out tomorrow night and likely Saturday night too, but will steer clear of the crowds near the Newport bridge and try to find a peaceful spot where I can catch a few squid.

Nothing worse than fishing in a crowd of boats where 1/2 of the squid ink shot on you is coming from the idiots that are anchored on top of you.

Saturday looks perfect....good tides.. steady rain .... light to moderate winds.
