Great song I was at the spectrum in 95 when they first played this live. You could not hear the first verse and a half. Unreal

Jerry's Thoughts on 12/21/12

Saw this on FB

Jerry's thoughts on December 21st, 2012 as told to Rolling Stone in 1993:

"The date that holds significance for me is 2012. That's [writer and self-described expert in 'the ethnopharmacology of spiritual transformation'] Terence McKenna's alpha moment, which is where the universe undergoes its most extraordinary transformations.

He talks about these cycles, exponential cycles in which, in each epic, more happens than in all previous time. Like he talks about novelty, the insertion of novelty into the time track. His first example of novelty is, say, the appearance of life. So the universe goes along, brrrrmmmmm, then all of a sudden, life appears: bing! So that's something new.

Then the next novelty is, like, vertebrates. Then the next novelty might be language -- that sort of thing. They're transformations of a huge kind, gains in consciousness. So he's got us, like, in the last forty-year cycle now -- it's running down, we're definitely tightening up -- and during this period, more will happen than has happened in all previous time. This is going to peak in 2012. He's got a specific date for it, too -- maybe December some time, I don't remember. But that moment, at the last 135th of a second or something like that, something like forty of these transformations will happen."

not Dead but Dead related....
I saw The New Riders of the Purple Sage last night at the Narrows. I have always wanted to see them but just never have. I would say if anyone is a fan of the Dead they would surely enjoy these guys. 40 years later this offshoot of the Dead are still going strong, they played for over 3 hours. The Mrs was itching to leave after a couple but with the snow blowing outside I was plenty content listening to the fellas play all night long, which they did, and also I might ad very well to boot. Great show in the best venue around.

nice!

My buddy Henry White who lives on the cape here is a huge dead head. Also an amazing fisherman I've leared a lot from him. All he does is listens to the dead, he has thousands of shows downloaded and burned on cd's most of them soundboard quality that are very good. He went on a tear for like a year where everytime we went fishing he'd give me a couple choice shows. Needless to say I've been jammin ever since, still don't think I've listened to all of them! Every show is different

something clever and related to fishing

Ya gipps told me he was the one who got henry into the dead! Both good dudes. I can never seem to drag them from that part of the cape though, the farthest west they travel is to B harbor lol!

2nd time Paul...I went to the Narrows Festival there this past Summer.
Great sound, seating etc....I'm thinking of seeing Tab Benoit but have to play things by ear due to starting a new job next week and partial weekends will be involved. Lets keep on it and try to get together for a show.

Remember "So Far" ? Pretty hot little series of spliced together footage mostly from '85. No real weak spots other then the 80's video editing and effects. Love the on stage but not w/ audience parts. Super clean sound even processed to all hell on YouTube. The LaserDisc my parents had of this in the late 80's was awesome...

It's been 15 years now and I still dance by myself....
Can anyone tell me what the yellow balloon at a show stands for?
