All Star Blank ?

I bought a rod from CMS a few years ago at one of the fishing shows (Foxboro Stadium). It's a 10 ft rod (spinning) but it has no markings on it.
I remember the guy telling me the All Star blanks were no longer made and it was a great blank and perfect for the canal. I want to sell this rod but don't know how to advertise it. Any idea's?

How old is it? CMS still had some All Star blanks on hand in late 2006, and maybe even later than that. IIRC the show was at Gillette in 2006 and 2007. Don't know whether it moved to Stonehill in 2008 or 2009.

And there's very little difference in quality, and overall rod performance, between the All Stars and the early, made-in-USA Rainshadow SU blanks. Both designed by the same guy.

Mike,

I believe it was the 2006 show at Gillette....Jeez, time flies. Seems like yesterday I bought this rod. I think I paid $230 for it....
But, How do I know the specs? 10 ft / 1 piece rod but I'm sure they made different weights and actions?...unless they only made a standard few?
Thanks for the reply....

It's probably an All Star, then. I bought two AS rods from CMS during 2006.

10' and one piece, CMS only used two blanks for off the rack sales---the GSW 1208 and 1209. One way of telling them apart is tip size---the 1208 has an 8 or a 9, and the 1209 has an 11. The other way is to do some ceiling poking. If the rod takes on a mod/fast bend, it's a 1208. If it takes down a few ceiling tiles instead of bending, it's a 1209.

The 1208 can do an honest 2-5 oz. The 1209, wrapped spinning, is 3 to----????. I think you could throw 12 without a care in the world.

Sounds like it's the 1208 then.....it can handle 5 oz jigs in the Canal but 5 oz seems like the limit. It throws 3 oz pencils well, but sometimes I wish the rod had a little more "whip" but as an all around rod I like it. The rod tip size you mention sounds about right for the rod I have as well...an 8 or 9.
Thanks for the response Mike....
