Turning Question

I contemplate this all the time.......

Do you turn the front of your plug on the headstock or tail stock?
And why?

I turn the front of my plug on the headstock side of the lathe...
No reason why I do it this way....maybe just because it's left to right?...but just curious what everyone else does.

I'm ambidextrous, some headstock like pikies for some reason, others headstock like pencils.

no reason

Well, for me, being left handed, it just seems natural to start at the "beginning" meaning the head and end at the end meaning the tail, working left to right.....this applies especialy when using the duplicator, as when I finnish the plug, the cutter can then be pushed to the extreme right out on my way....

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Pencils I tend to do head towards the headstock. Swimmers and needles the other way. not sure why, I think in my head I'm figuring the thicker end on the headstock side I guess.

I leave the largest dia. end of the plug up against the head and the thinnest dia. of the plug on the center side so however that falls is how it sits. It is easier for me on my lathe to get at the small dia. on the center and I have more stable meat driving the plug.
