Les Paul has died

they dont get much better than Les and music today would sound much different without him. Brilliant man and guitarist.

Unhappy

I just saw that on CNN. Major influence on the guitar playing world. He and Leo Fender should be canonized in the rock and roll hall of fame.

What would rock and roll be like without a low slung Les Paul custom or a screaming strat?

Pick up a copy of Les Paul and friends cd with the blue les paul on the front he plays on every tune and he was 89 when it was made.

Why even try.........

Im pretty sure Les is the R&R hall of fame. Never mind the guitars, his playing was a major influence on almost every guitartist from 1960s on. Les was THE MAN on electric guitar when most of the guitar gods we know where growing up. Listent to the solo on Alabamy bound on the link above, f-in nuts. All those tracks feature JUST LES and his wife, he created the bass, drums and multiple guitar tracks all by overdubbing his guitar! And the best part was that he was top 40! He had hits that everyone knew, not just guitar geeks.
never mind that he invented multitrack recording and numerous guitar effects which are common today. I saw him about 8 years ago at the Iridium in NYC, still a great player even in his late 80s. I've posted this before, but its incrediblly sad that 99% of most guitarists or guitar lovers dont own any Les recordings. they dont know what they're missing.

ayup, this guy was a GIANT. He won't get 1/100th of the press Michael Jackson got, but here a true legend who spawned countless musicians has passed.

RIP Les Paul.
