I know everyone hates him but...

I've always been a casual fan.
This guy has been bashed by anyone thats ever picked up a guitar except for some of his early disciples. As a budding guitarist in the early 80s, Yngwie was a constant topic among my friends. I was never a big fan of his style, but always appreciated his playing. I've seen him a few times live, once opening for Maiden.

If you look at him in a post-Blackmore vein, he is a great player. This piece is awesome, give it a listen/look with an open mind.

he gets a lot of criticism for speed over substance, which is true. This clip is a perfect balance, but some of his stuff gets old quick.

Definately a technical wizard...but also one of the biggest egomaniac a&#holes to ever wear spandex pants!
My favorite "shredder" by far is Andy Timmons. He has the same chops when he wants but also a melodic sense to his playing. There are some good vids on YT of him playing lick for lick with Satch.

Andy Timmons is great for sure. A few of his cd's and others for sale here. A great site if you like guitarists.
