Had a carbon tank (PH neutralizer) and softener system put in. Install was from a small local company and ran into the multiple thousands of dollars. As far as maintenance, I just put a couple bags of potassium in every six months or so... Its a price worth paying to keep your applicances and showers from looking like crap.

Of note, the plumbing to a previous radon-in-water netralizer was already there, so that undoubtedly saved me some $$ on the install.

I've got one of these (link below) under my kitchen sink, change the filter when wife commands (3-4x per year). Works great, filters are cheap and easy to replace, < 1/2 hr for plumber to install.

Doesn't the system depend upon how bad the water is? Have you had an analysis done?

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.
