Hand Gun Question

Hey everyone I will be turning 21 in March and I am going to apply for my License to carry. I already have a new up to date FID and took the hunter safety course when I was 12 and then again when I was 15. My question is, even though I have and FID do I still have to take a hand gun safety course in order to get my lincense to carry permit?

Probably. But check with the safety officer in your town.

I believe you do. The handgun safety course is different than the hunters safety course. Back when I got my first one in the early 80s they made you demonstrate to the officer that you could safely load, unload and fire a weapon. They did it in the basement range at the station. When I had to fire the handgun the I aimed and fired at the target ( handgun was a High Standard semi auto if I remember right) After the 2nd shot the officer says to me" Oh another gallery shooter" So I emptied the clip on target rapidfire. The officer just smiled.

Yes you need to take a handgun safety course, and make sure the person is Mass state police certified.
