F***ing punks

So I'm sitting at a red light in N. Smithfield coming out of Lowes. Volvo with 2 young jerks in front of me. The kid in the passenger seat with the hat on sideways, sticks his arm and head out the window, looks at me and gives me the "finger". I sat there and just looked at him, no reciprocation on my part, just stared at him.
He keeps flipping me off and starts yelling "come on, come and get me." As luck would have it, I had been doing a tree job earlier in the day and my logging hook happened to be on my front seat.

So I grabbed the hook and held it up to my windshield and yelled, "OK, I'm coming right now". I opened my door and, guess what??? These 2 brave punks floored it and raced away.

Lesson is don't mess with an old crazy Vet!

No boat, back in the suds.

What surprised me was that the entire thing was unprovoked. What? You need to take on an old man to prove you have balls. Sorry, wrong guy!

This has happened to me twice recently, both times while I was walking my boxer in my own neighborhood. Cars drove by and some idiot felt the need to lean out the passenger window and expletive and gesture me. The first time I just started laughing because I recognized the car (from walking in my neighborhood so much). The second time I was in a neighborhood that connects to mine and when the car went by and rounded a curve I could see it pull down a cul de sac, so my mighty (timid) boxer and I also went down the cul de sac. I stood in the street in front of the house pretending to take a picture with my phone then pretending to be on the phone pointing toward the house like I was really pissed. Mom wasted no time bolting out insisting I tell her what I was doing. I strung her along for a bit throwing out road rage and bullying and a zero tolerance police department, then smiled and confessed I hadn't called anyone or taken a picture, but if there was a next time, things might be different. I haven't seen that car around since.

I would not recommend wasp spray due to potential liability of it's not being recommend for use on people. Check the label, it may even be against federal law to missuse wasp spray. Check with the local police department and see if pepper spray is a legal alternative since it's use has been tested on humans is allowed.
I just looked and you CAN purchase mace in Massachusetts it appears to be legal in R.I. also if over 18yo without needing an FID. Get some mace avoid some potential liability.

Was going to say the exact same thing.

That being said, if it was home invasion and that was the last line of defense I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

I totally agree with that, if there's no other choice use it. Might be a good idea to keep some work gloves and pruning shears to possibly explain why you had it in your vehicle so it doesn't appear as you planned to use it for defense.

I'm not sure about Mass but RI is a "castle law" state which means that if you feel you or your family's well being is in danger on your property, you can use any means possible to protect and defend yourself. That would include my .45 ACP Glock and a can of wasp spray.....take your pick.

Guys.

Kids are idiots. I am sure we all did stupid #^&#^&#^&#^&. Lets not kill anyone. I remember I was super pissed at a kid for cutting me off in Southie. The kid just looked at me flipping out and laughed at me. I use that now if someone does something like what you all mentioned above I just laugh at them. Try it, the kid will either get pissed or more pissed or start laughing to.

I wasn't advocating the shooting of anyone. I was just stating what the Castle Law is in RI. Doesn't apply to the situation I was in.

Old baseball glove in the truck compliments having an aluminum bat.... I suggested this to a friend who drives for Uber when he asked me for defensive/protective advice. Also worked well when I have cleared unauthorized parties.... Never swung it, but came close to changing one young man into a gelding....

Far from it. I had to get up out of a sound sleep.... First time was at my ex's house when daughter had called that things had gotten out of control. And her mother was away.... Second time was a friend who called from Florida and had gotten word there was a party at his house. (He had heard the story of my ex's) So I show up at his house at 0100 and the first kid I see is my nephew.....
I am far from a big or tough guy, but experience and a "persuader" will go a long way... as does some firm upward pressure on the barrel in someone's crotch. The intent was simply to turn an offensive posture into a defensive one. That said, all it would take for those situations to go south was to have some punk carrying and pull out his gun.... Just saying. Always a possibility. I was not carrying either time and was lucky.
Your time will come, Matt. Wait til your kids are 16-20.... Thank God mine are both 23 now.

Broke up too many parties. When I arrived and told everyone it was time to go, and they did not move, the closest was the first one to go. That generally was all it took.
