Larry you should check out Jig Man's idea for tight joints, its on "the other site", might work out exactly how you want. Nice work though!

The gill plates are as simple as it gets......I made a jig for my bandsaw, positioned the angle I wanted them to be, choose where on the plug you want them exactly and just a quick cut on each side! Set your jig up so it positions itself identically on both sides! Then just a little sanding and Bob's your Uncle! I like a little realism on my plugs.....been batting this simple idea around for awhile now!

Technically the covers are not red....the plates inside are. However I had tried a few by adding some red and could not get the nice clean look I liked. Tried brushing by hand and with an air brush and was not happy. Figured by letting the various colors of each plug just "bleed" into the slits would look great.....and I liked it.

Beautiful work Larry. One question doing the joints that way in my experience the water pushing passed the plug fills the joint kind of kills the action, so I've done those v-joints in the opposite direction. I'm curious if with your plugs does the joint work in a more subdued fashion or are you still getting the traditional exaggerated action.

Bigfish Larry, Great to see these awesome plugs in person at plugfest. Did you have a jointed popper too? I think I saw it in your display case. How is the action?

I am going to be serious, just for a second, as I enjoy giving the big guy grief most of the time. Lawrence's quality is second to none. The attention to detail is of the highest degree.

Great seeing you Chum/Matt! I did a version of that jointed popper when I first started building as kind of a lark but fishing the canal as much as I did last season I started to think that if weighted heavy in the tail section to give it good heft in the current, it would work great in the ditch! So this season I will find out! I wanted it particularly for when I let the plug drift with the current so the joint gives the plug a little wiggle! I will let you know how it works! I am going to do some with the "V" joint I had on the swimmers!

Thanks Paul! That means alot coming from you!

I have to say I agree 100 percent with Paul on this one.
I also enjoy giving Larry a hard time...
It's so easy..
Larry's plugs have some of the cleanest lines I have seen. They are put together well with the top of the line components and they catch.
It is nice to see as Larry is a by product of this whole internet plug building scene..It just goes to show what you can do through hard work.Along with taking some pride in what it do..
Awesome job you big lug...
BTW this comment was not solicited with any free plugs.I did not get a BF Larry plug at plug fest but if he wants to send me some I could use a few more. These comments come from the stone cold heart of the NIB and they do not come frequently or easily..

It is a little syrupy..I had typed a different reply but it got kicked back.In it I stated more so how he acts like a pompus ass at times..I just didn't feel like retyping all that.
I certainly don't want to get caught up in that whole ballwashing sect..
