Tough Mudder

Anyone going up to Mt. Snow for the Tough Mudder on May 5 or 6? I have a team of 8 going off on Sunday at 9:20. Curious if anyone has done one of these events before. I'm looking forward to a thorough ass beating as this is my first one.

Nice, Mike. I'm doing some obstacle course in Connecticut in June I think. A girl I know put the team together, I'm just riding the wave...

No tough murder but signed up for and training for a few 5k's, 1 ten miler and two half Mary's. Theres a few groups from my crossfit box doing a warrior dash and they keep trying to get me to "run" it with them. I don't know it seems foolish to me to potentially bust myself up running a silly race while training for more serious races I kinda want to just see if I can do the warrior dash flat out at puke speed though . Good luck on the tough mudder bb!

BB been going to 508 crossfit and I'm REALLY liking it for now I'm in there twice a week but I run 4 days a week and do a little cycling/swimming here and there on easy days I was never a "gym person" but I'm seriously digging the Olympic lifts picked 508 over providence because there's less traffic so far the people are pretty cool, my coach rocks and he doesnt baby us but is very quick to correct for bad form, posture etc and he pushes us which is good but he doesnt push us to do stupid #^&#^&#^&#^& we shouldnt be doing just yet.

Crushed a 6 miler on my lunch break today rested 15 minutes and was ready to rock and roll again Metcons work!

Domination takes full concentration..

Vic:

I've been doing crossfit and "crossfit on steroids" since November. Good stuff, mostly based on Charles Poloquin's approach as my trainer is a Poloquin disciple. Olympic lifts play a big part of every workout, along with alot of form work, pullups, pushups, sled drags, etc.

I can't run to save my life as it kills my knees, but can complete a 5K in about 22-23 minutes or so. The tough mudder looks to a different beast altogether as its 12 miles up and down Mt. Snow through 30 or so obstacles. Seems to be the granddaddy of all obstacle races. I'll let you know how it goes...they make you sign a death waiver and life insurance policy just in case...

This is what keeps me from doing these events. Fear of busting up a knee or something and being kept away from other types of racing.

Other then that - I'd really like to do one.

Mike, after you showed me the video I am truly impressed that you would even try this at your advanced age.

Seriously, Best of luck. I told you, I would be happy to donate if you are sponsoring for a worthy cause.

Good people at 508. the woman who owns it used to be a trainer at AIF. Have a couple freinds that kill some WODs there.

Last month I went to a strict Paleo diet and the results have been awesome.

Don't give up the booze. You can still drink miller lite and Michelob ultra. Good summer beers. Plus you have red wine for the winter months. You can still get trashed and stay fit.

LOL.

I am jealous as when I get home from work I'm usually ready for a nap. I can't remember when I felt so physically inept.

Vodka tonic.

I cant stop drinking. Thats my problem. But i have been drinking miller lites. The ultras are to much like water. Bud selects arent bad either. When I go out, its bacardi and diet cokes.

That's what I was drinking before I put down the booze. More sugar and calories in a bacardi and diet than you'd think though...

Red wine. If you are going to drink it's the best thing for you. Just don't drink a gallon.

A gallon is fine, just not all at once.
