Bob,
When I was a lot younger and played handball, I was always amazed how the 60 and 70 year olds would beat me. I would race around the court to get to the ball and they would seem to make one step and be there. Experience tells you where and when to be at that spot.
At 52 you should be in your surfcasting prime with the advantage of a lot more experience than when you were thirty. There are physical limitations of age, but barring an illness or injury you should be surfcasting for at least another 25 years.
