my apologies

Please accept my apologies for the post here. I followed a link to this message board and did not realize it was not for commercial use. I will end the thread immediately.
Also, I would like to say, that in the future, when someone makes a mistake, maybe a friendly note or e-mail would be sufficient instead of undless whinning?? Just a thought. Thanks for showing me what type of people you really are.
I do sincerely aplolgize to anyone that construed my message as spam. I do not agree with such tactics. I have operated a very succesful business for 15 yrs without it and have no intention of starting now.
Sincerely,
Pete MacKay

clearly stated

As I clearly stated---"I followed a link to this message board "

As a matter of fact, I was directed to this message board, not to your main page. Which I clearly stated.
I followed a link to here because several of your customer's (ones with boats I assume) have been using your search engine and been refered to my site.
When I get a large # of hits from any 1 search engine, I follow the link to see where it leads.
I am sorry Mr. bassguy or fish master whatever you call yourself. If the price for my steps is out of your reach, I understand. Please don't take it out on me. Personally I feel it outrageous to charge someone $200 to spend a few hours with someone with your attitude to show me which way to cast a line.
But, $425 for a set of steps that will last 20-30yrs seems too much to you??? I don't see the comparison.
Have a nice day.

Pete, you seem like a reasonable person that just made a simple oversight. No big deal but it is winter and when there happens to be guys coming here for the first time to self promote, then the pigpiling happens. Like I said, the shacknasties arrive in winter and children must play

Take some of it with a sense of humor too.

good luck on your business ventures, it's just that the guys here know that sponsors and such help pay the bills for the owner of the site = JohnR

that's all

Pete - you met the wall of Anti-Spam head on . This is really a member's site (and you're more than welcome to be a member - membership is wicked pissa expensive - free) and we do frown on people coming aboard and posting commercial products - seems to happen at least once a month around here .

We do have site SPONSORS that we are carefull about who we chose to become sponsors and the stuff must be relevant to what we do - surfcast & boat for saltwater fish in the northeast.

There are also 2 places where it is mentioned about commercial advertising: "Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations or any other method to promote yourself without first clearing it with Striped-Bass.com is inappropriate on this message board." on the registration message of the forums and "Classifieds
Buy,Sell, or Swap for members only please. NO COMMERCIAL ADVERTISING - thanks... "
on the tab to get into the Classifieds forums. So when you posted a commercial product (the steps) people go tweaked as we've been down this road before. This site is not a business venture but a community of people and when someone trys to solicit the community without permission, people get pissed. You get all those crappy spam e-mails everday about making your dingaling bigger, loose 40 pounds in 20 days, or your own chance with Paris Hilton? Well dropping a link and promoting a product without permission is the message board equivalent.

Personally, I think you might bring something to the table here as a member, especially with a fiberglassing background, that knowledge could be a big help when one of our members bounces of a rock (I'm doing work on an old boat and might have a question too from time to time). So I encourage you to enjoy the site as a member and participate with us - I think you'll enjoy it. But as for commercially trying to sell a product or a link thru the site when not contacting me first for permission and not being a sponsor - doesn't fly well around here.

As for $400 and change for glass steps, that's not unreasonable. Materials alone are $150, labor for the first molds, layups of individual steps, finnishing, making some profit... Sure the home guy can make some for less money but not many people will find one "commercially" for less than those.

Different places have different rules but most sites frown on self promotion & advertising. So from one guy on the Bay to another, I'd like to see you participate as a member and join our little community but understand its not channel to move merchandise on...

Thanks,

JohnR

Well,
I am glad to see that we have gotten that settled. I understand completely about the spam thing. I saw classifieds and well, I sell stuff, ya know??
Anyway, I apologize for ruffling any feathers. I will clear any further commercial type posts with the moderator. And, I look forward to checking the forums on occasion. It is winter, and I have more time to do so. Come spring, you will not here from me much.
As far as questions on fiberglass, anodized aluminum welding, stainless steel welding and interior cabinetry, feel free to ask away. I have always found that giving away information is really the best way to generate new customers and keep old ones.
Sincerely,
Pete MacKay

Cooler racks

Well, we can make just about anything. But, we are a custom fabrication shop. By that I mean, if there is a rack in production anywhere or if you can get one off of the shelf somewhere, I cannot compete pricewise. It would even save you money to buy one that is almost what you want and have us alter it to fit your needs. We make thing one at a time by hand, and the labor adds up fast and things get pricey.
Your best bet would be to see what is available in the general marketplace, and then go from there.
We are starting a standard product line and will be opening an online marine store in the near future. We will have a cooler tie down kit, which is four poly corners with some bungy type tie downs. It retails for about $30. I don't know if you can use that. If interested, I can send you a pic.

Yes,
At the end of Wharf road, take a left into Wharf Marina. If you drive straight through the parking lot, you will go to my shop.
