If you're directly across from Slipknot, and you hear a break-off, it's a good practice to get into. Ask me how I know.

Get a boat!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

My apologies for resurrecting an old thread...

But I also will put in my 2 cents and tell you that you don't need to try and force it out there, if you hear your line making that noise in the wind you casted too hard and it won't go as far as you want it to because you tightened up all of your muscles. Keep loose! That's how a lot of fisherman blow their shoulders out.

Also, you don't need tape on your finger for protection, if you use braid, you should only hold the line with the pad of your index finger tip!

Though in my experience from boat and shore, I've always had fish nail the plug 5 feet from where I was. Maybe I have an uncanny ability for that, who knows..

You can literally flip a Bomber into the breakers and get hooked.

Cheers!

Potato launcher, giant slingshot in the back of your pickup or the helicopter technique. No not a real helicopter, swing the lure in circles over your head allowing the centrivical force to build then time the release. Been doing this at the lake for a few years now to get out to a rockpile in front of the pier. It definitely works! Anyone ever tried this before?

Kayak line launching sucks when fishing a popper though

my advice is to forget about plugs and just fish eels. plug guys only catch small weenie fish. They also have an inferiority complex witch compels them to try and trick dumb fish with wood. If you want to catch a real fish just go buy some eels : )

It would be interesting to hear the ruling but I'm pretty sure that a Kayak line launched stripped bass would be a boat fish in the Derby.

True, but it will at least not result in your reel getting spooled as you paddle back in, if a fish eats the bait before you get back and set up the rod in the spike.
