Trillium Mettle

Really a top flight double IPA, and you only have to make your way down to Congress Street to grab a growler or two. Save yourself the trip to VT!

These folks are killin' it, and they are really, really nice people to boot. I plan on being there at least once a week as long as I am in Southie now that the weather broke. Nice evening stroll there and back after work, and great beer too!

My favorite brewery. Going tomorrow for vicinity. Congress, fort point, vicinity and upper case are my favorites. Have not had mettle yet.

I work right across the street from the Brewery. Its a blessing and a curse. I grabbed two Vicinity bottles on Monday and two of the Upper Case last week. both were damn good. The Mettle has been my favorite in their DIPA line. Havent grabbed it in a while. Talked to a guy that works there and bar tends at row 34. they are building a facility in Canton and will increase capicity 15X. They will still only be available in Mass, but you will see it on Tap a many more places now. The wait list to get their beer is like 300 shops and restarunts. they are doing something right!

Blessing is great beer and curse is having to up my workouts to keep the weight off. I think I will head back for another Mettle tonight unless the weather sucks too much.

Vicinity is a 100/70 on BA. That is weird.

Yeah, the bros review is weird if you read it. Bad batch or something.

Stocked up today. Whenever I have a thurs or fri meeting in town i fill up a backpack of bottles. Didn't see mettle as an option today, mosaic fort point and vicinity only - right up my alley.

Only beers I haven't loved are fb-90 and public house. They're very good by other brewery standards, just not in class of their other offerings.

yeah I've never been here either but have always heard great things - I've heard the bar they have there is always a madhouse. Definitely will be stopping by there soon

edit: oh snap, I just saw that it is 10 mins away from my office!!

no more bar or tasting, just purchasing. I think the madness did that in last November or so. Must better for the purchasing, it was just too small to have folks just hanging around.

Vicinity is better than I remember....maybe my favorite beer. Tough choice between vicinity and congress street.

Had Vicinity this week and it looks like Congress is due up shortly. With a bunch of days between "tastings" I am thinking Mettle may a bit better. Hopefully will get a bottle filled of Congress tomorrow for home use.

This is sort of of a thread divergence, but its another local brew so I'll give it a go. Have you tried the Nightshift Beers? They do a rotating IPA called Morph, each canning is different. I've had the last two and they are very good. I've had the 3/26 and the 2/20 and enjoyed them both. Tasty hop forward ale. They are a nice change of pace when an 8+% beer isnt what you are looking for. They carry it at the shop next to trillium if you are over there again.

Here's the notes for each canning.

holy crap you guys weren't f-ing around, picked some up last week and was blown away by how good the vincinity is - definitely a strong rival to Heady in my book.

I got another one of their beers in a growler, I forget the name but it was just a pale ale and it was also outstanding

Kevin - I'll grab a bottle for you. you will love this stuff

Night Shift is good stuff. Been to the old place and new one.

Staying in Chelsea and very tempted to stop by again.

Ran late and did not get to Trillium on Friday. Hopefully the Congress Street will be up this coming week if it doesn't get crushed over the weekend and Monday.

Congress DDH (double dry hopped) last week and Vicinity this week. Not too shabby hangin' in the Seaport me thinks. It will likely be sad to see it come to an end.

Had to take my daughter to her Orthodontist appointment yesterday up in Newburyport. While she was in there I went into this little Wine and Cheese shop down the street.

The guy has this "bookshelf" with some craft beer on it. I look and see he has Maine Beer Another One on the shelf so I grab one.....haven't tried it yet. He asks me if I like the Lunch....I said Oh yeah.......he says his distributor brought him in case by accident......so I grab one of those as well

He also says he just started getting these in.....shows me a little display of a bunch of the Nightshift offerings.....Sweet!!!! and nobody goes in this place

like them on facebook. they update what they have for bottles and growlers daily and even post updates as things get close to running out and when they do run out.
