decent idea. One of these days I'll spill my beans as to how I make my stencils but it does use a somewhat similar procedure but different plastic and no shop vac needed. The main problem in making these type of stencils is you have to make each plug exactly the same or they will not fit in the stencil so you have to be precision on making you plugs each time and repeat the dimensions each time you turn them. Sometimes if I know I am going to make a ton of mack canal pencils I will turn up way more than I would use in a year or 2. That way they are all the same size and when I want to make some more a year or 2 from now I have them already to finished turning wise and I know they will fit the wood plug.

I liked scottw's idea using the rubber material. Did that last season.
