Footballs???

Did someone say footballs?

OTW's fishing report has....and close to shore. Have to get the heavy spin gear back onboard for Sunday.... Any other reports out there?

Footballs were right on the drop off at wood end yesterday. We were casting without even taking in the bass gear. They even popped in to 20' a few times.

Gave PHB a shot Saturday morning. They were in shallower. Weird day, tons of birds working. We trolled though a few spots where we were sure that we were going to get slammed. Birds were pounding the deck all around our bars, but they were being picky. Bite turned on real quick on the tide and that was it. Got one 40ish fish so I'll quit btching. Hope to get a few more days chasing charlie before its all said and done. Good luck all.

A question for the tuna pro's out there. A few of the charter guys we talk to were fishing with live whiting. Is that a sabiki-able bait? Any of you guys have experience with that. We tried to get Mac's outside scituate harbor before the ride over with no success.

Yes, they're using sabikis on Whiting.

There's also a lot of guys who tried to fish live whiting on 50s and got their ass handed to them yesterday. Big fish in the bay right now.

Thanks Andrew, Thats what we heard too. Live lining those whitings on 130's hoping for a fish like the Fishing Freak's. We fish with 50W's and 30W's so we have been sticking to where the little guys have been hanging out. It would be interesting to watch an 800lb slob laugh at the drag on the 30.

I grew up in Wollaston and am down Humarock quite a bit. See you on rte 3 sometime!

My son and his friends were just trolling for what ever would hit the lines and they connected with a tuna of which I will be enjoying a tuna steak this evening.

Yesterday two miles straight out from Thatchers footballs all over the place. Macs are plentyfull.

Today is a differant day and may not be there.

Stripers on the western shore from Magnolia to Salem along the shore big stripers on live macs. One of my friends told a fisherman from shore to cast to his boat and he would hook a striper to his hook and the guy did.

I don't think that was a football, maybe good old #75 Vince Wilfork intercepting your bait and making an end zone run!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Had lunch with him a few days ago and he had a couple of tuna the day before and U are correct he does not fish for shorties.

Another friend of mine in same area had a couple of shorties too, plus a lot of dogs. There are five boats filming for a tuna series on TV and the two of them are taking part in the series that will be on TV next year on National Geographic.

That could either be very good or very bad for the fishery.

I'm leaning toward the latter.

I just mentioned this to an old salt:

"If I see them filming, I'm going to throw a 20 oz sinker at them. I'll give them reality of tuna fishing. "

I lost it. Completely dead serious when he said it.

If a sinker is thrown at the wrong boat, the boat that throws the sinker could become a coffin and a burial suddenly at sea.

Plenty of macs in and out side of Gloucester harbor. Bigger mac's were just outside of the breakwater. Gave a friend of mine a couple dozen as he was heading for George's Bank.
