''Extreme Makeover'' in Warwick

Is anyone watching this house go up or know the story behind it? or will you just go to hear them say ""MOVE THAT BUS""

Seen this article in the southcoasttoday today. http://www.southcoasttoday.com/apps/...NEWS/802210339
I guess its supposed to air late April or early May.

Personally I don't care much for this show. There's something wrong when they dump tons of money for one good family when they could help so many other instead. America's TV Land for you. Does every kid need plasma's and the whole nine yards?

It's all about the money. The labor and material used on the show is not tax deductible because it is not a non profit. Everybody donates the house, the production company and ABC make money. One family gets a house.
The family gets the house as "in kind" payment for the use of it during the filming. Tax consequences???
It's reality TV folks. Sooner or later you will see people die for the chance to make money on a reality show.

I live reality everyday

I agree Goose, it's a bit over the top and to help out just one family with all that extravagance is just absurd.

Friends of ours actually put in an application years ago, (they have 2 kids with serious issues) but a local builder pretty much built them a new handicap accessible home for what they sold their house for, and I made them a custom kitchen for the price of stock. ABC does it all for the money I'm sure, ratings = $

Having done my kvetching I would have to say that doing one was an interesting experience. But my view of Extreme and ABC still stands.

my sister in law's architechure firm did the design on this one in warwick and she is volunteering this weekend with her husband at the site.
I completely agree with you guys about this show. My biggest question is who pays the property taxes on these new homes that are probably worth 10 times the previous house? Yeah, they don't pay a mortgage, but taxes on expensive homes can sometimes cost as much as a normal mortgage payment. In the big picture though at least SOME good comes out of it, at least more than shows like Survivor and American Idol

are you saying it's not tax deductable for the builders? That's horrible man!! Can't you say that you donated it to the family and not ABC? You know the more I think about this the more it pisses me off, why should Ty and the gang be making a fortune off this how while hard working people that aren't millionairs are donating their time???
