I love my 12 gauge Browning Gold Hunter Deer Slayer edition Got a Bushnell Scope on it and the Rifled choke extender on it, thats my baby. I just picked up a Remington 30/06 sunday though I believe its the old skool one the 721. bolt action.

Remington 1187
TC black diamond

The only time I use the 1187 is when I'm driving which is very rare. Black powder is the way to go now.

My Q2 bow !!!!!!!! Sorry I thought you said your fav deer slayer. But if I have to gun hunt I use a Mossburg 500 shotgun with rifled barrel and 2-4 power scope its good out to 150 yards with the Winchester supreme partition gold sabot slugs. Last years long shot was just over 150 yards. Use the same gun for bear if the bow does not get him first. I find that even while gun hunting I wait for a 30 yard shot if it looks like it might happen. But thats easy to do if you already have a few in the freezer from bow season.

Ruger m77 in .270 synthetic stock nikon 3-9 shooting federal premium nosler partition 140gr or the good ole 870 wingmaster 20ga stoked with slugs has been worth a couple of dozen for me. But the mathews LX is my first choice.

I have used the Omega for 2 years now and love it.
Just a heads up you have to clean the gun every 2-3 shots other wise it will group in different areas of the paper. I’m shooting 295gr power belt bullets with 100 gr (2/50s) of Triple S powder. Your groups will drop aprox 3" after your 3rd shot.
When you go to site the gun in bring a ratchet and appropriate size socket with an extension. This will make it a lot easier to clean
And lots of patch cloths

My simple Ruger 77 mkII (LH) in .270 w/ old Redfied 3x9 (set at 3X all the time) has put all my meat in my freezer in the past (private property in CT). Shot a couple of deer w/ 20 ga BPS pump (smooth bore slug barrel), but didn't like the fact that they would act like I didn't hit them and took much longer than I thought it should have for them to go down. Used an old Marlin lever in .35 Rem few yrs back - hit deer and thought I missed it - turned out I hit it fine and it trotted a good ways (sold rifle shortly afterwards).

I have a Thompson Firehawk in SS w/ walnut stock - tried all the ammo I could get for it. Only stuff that shoots like the nutz are the Hornady Sabots that use the .44 cal pistol bullets. Never tried round balls though .... lol. Groups scary - tighter than some centerfire at short range. Measured loads you pour - never tried the solid powder yet. To me it just didn't seem right - it is black powder and I expect the smoke and all. Of course the sabots aren't right either IMHO, but it is the only thing that shoots consistant.... lol.

Low power scopes are the way to go around here since there aren't many chances to take a 400+ yd shot. Simple 4X is fine or low power variable. I see way too many people buying these HUGE objective 50mm+ scopes and wonder why they can't see the deer when it is moving w/ the power set at 12X. :P

Pre '68 30-30 Winchester. My dad has an old .33 cal. Winchester I would LOVE to try out.... but they don't make the ammo anymore. Gonna have to find someone who will customize some shells for it.

Wherever you go.... there you are!
