World Series Ball

What do you guys think about the World Series Ball? I think that it should go to the Red Sox. I understand that Mientkiewicz has the ball, and he says it's his, but I believe that it was a team accomplishment...unlike a No-hitter, which is more of a personal accomplishment. What do you guys think of this?

Only a month and a half till Pitchers and Catchers!!!

GO SOX!!!! REPEAT BABY !!!!!!

I was listening to it all on EEI today and they had Mankewitz on. I believe the ball rightfully belongs to him....he fielded it and he kept it as a momento just as many do with a special ball of any kind. Like they said, if he did not grab it someone else would have......and sure as hell they would have profited from it. I do however believe that he should contact the Hall Of Fame and offer to display the ball there with the proviso that it still belongs to him. If the Sox want the ball, let them pay him for it. If a fan had wound up with the ball, would they force them to return it or offer to buy it? I see absolutely nothing wrong with what he did or what he said about it on the radio....if you were him, would you not have kept that ball? I would have! My .02 cents.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

I was listening today as well ( as I do everyday-all day )....and I agree that I would have done the same thing.....so I hear both sides of the story.

This is a great problem to have.....who gets the world series ball .......GO SOX!!!

this was a team accomplishment, and a very special and unique one at that. i think that the ball belongs to the boston red sox to be displayed in a team museum. sounds to me like he snuck out in his wifes purse in a premeditated act. just my .02. quick call in the lawyers

Just Please , Please, Please don't turn around and sell it to Steinbrenner.

If it went into the stands, who ever caught it can keep it. Otherwise its the ownership of the team. What if he took first base? What about the jacuzzi in the locker rooms?

no way. how was long was he a member of the team for? less than half the season? there are people on the team that deserve that ball more than him. IMO it should go to the team.

his first comments saying how it would "pay for his kids college tuition" is a bunch of BS. give me a break. you're a professional sports player, you should be able to pay your kids tuition anyways...

the ball was not hit out of the playing field. Any ball on the playing field should be property of the home "team".
