Just got done replacing a piece of #$%^&*ing Type M in the water system that was porous. Get one every year or so and it is easire to just do them as they leak.........

Replace 10' at a time, you have the water shut off. And put in some drip couplings or 90's in the low spots, so you can get the water out.

You should check your water system and make sure it is grounded properly It may be electrolisis (spelling) the water picks up and wears down your pipe from the inside out, I if you have green stains in your sinks or tub this is a sign of it.

Could also be high acidity in the water. Town or well?

Acid, quite common in the area. Fixtures aren't green thank God.

If you are doing your own plumbing, the trick I have learned is buy more than you will need. If you are not sure which size fittiing buy both. It is still less expensive than a pro. Of course this assumes that you have some mechanical skills. If it's a trap under a counter or hidden plastic is a good thing.
If all else fails there is always duct tape, hose clamps or a pail.......

RTV silicone, and lots of it. I have a plastic to galvy steel connection that I siliconed nearly 30 years ago, still no drips.

Plumbers, feel free to freak out here
