Tore my ACL skiing when I was 37. Ended my running career; took to biking after that. Started fishing a lot when I couldn’t run or play basketball any more.

I am most fortunate and grateful that my left knee is in excellent shape and shows great spacing between the bones. (See x-ray) My first surgery for torn ACL was September 1975.So that left knee has carried the load for 45 years before the TKR.

I have accepted that this is likely a two year recovery to see what my maximum gain will be. So that puts me into Memorial Day 2021. I am grateful to be walking, working, and making the most of what we have while waiting for 2020 to pass.

My apologies for the hijack of the Fall Run thread. I miss the old days running up and down beaches chasing blitzing bass and blues... Many an afternoon there would be guys in business suits, dashing barefoot into the mayhem, rods in hand, during their commute home.

The knee replacement deserve its own thread, if only for those who might be on their way to considering having such a procedure. As Clammer says, appreciate what you have... in this case, your mobility.

Yep. I can already feel it. Subconsciously compensating for/protecting the injured knee.

Thanks! It must be from reeling in all those fish. It certainly isn't from all of the ice cream I've been eating.

Only the belly of some of these occasional fish indicates to me that there is a "Fall Run" in effect. If I find anything at all, it is an individual fish.

Good day off Saconet in friends boat, easy ten fish pick on good tog and while on first spot we watched acres of fish and birds, but we came for tog. On pulling first set anchor we motored over and discovered they were micro stripers as suspected, but we picked up some nice chunky sea bass dropping my 4” split tails to the bottom under the schoolies. Ironically in all the years of fishing in multiple boats I’ve never been boarded to check fish, today was a first at the ramp, no issues of course.

Same here. Not my best in terms of poundage, but the consistency has been amazing, and I’ve fished all over the place.

Those saying there’s no fish left simply aren’t fishing or just don’t see a reason to fish if large aren’t readily available, which is fine, but to say there isn’t a Fall Run taking place is incorrect. Talk to anyone who lives by the water down this way and they’ll tell you it’s the best they’ve seen in 40 years.

My buddy was standing next to a guy the other day who caught a 20” BSB on a storm shad.

Hey Paul long time no see. I've been saying that for many years now. For me anyway it usually picks up around the 3rd week in August and slows up the first couple of September. During that time the bite on skins can get pretty good. Then is just drops way off like a switch has been flipped. Some fish stick around for a while, just not like the big schools eating as they go by. All on the west as well.

I took Paul out to the dark side in my fiberglass jetty many moons ago. Put him on some good fish if I recall. Figured he would have gotten a boat sooner...

Some very good fish Ross! And we also went surfcasting although I can't recall if it was the same year. I would rather surfcast than boat fish.

Ahh yes. I stand corrected: A great Fall Run is afoot. Instead of being skunked like in the last 3 trips to the lousy beaches that I monitor and fish-- I caught 19 bass the other night. Maybe No. 20 would be a fish greater than 28 inches; but this did not happen despite the great Fall Run.

That’s unfortunate. I know you fish traditionally big fish spots, but you might want to switch it up.

I held off on replying because my buddies were into fish up to 25#s (several between 15-25#s) the night prior to, and the following day, when you posted.

I haven't posted about the surf but I'm fishing 2 or 3 times a week like the old days. I've been into decent fish ( you know what I mean when I say "decent".).
No spot burns but SoCo on the East Side has been my "go to". So those of you who know me and where I fished 20 years ago, know where I am!

No boat, back in the suds.
