The wrap up

All and all a good time on the outer Cape. The whole ride out, my buddy was tripping out about all of these shark sightings that had been coming out of Monomoy. I kept telling him not to worry. The sharks are always out there, but just don't think about it. Anyway, we launched out of PTown at 5:00 and started making the 20 minute paddle to the pots. About halfway out, I started smelling bait and was tight. A few minutes later I had 15# fish at the yak. We kept heading out, and I hear a little yelp. A pilot whale surfaced about ten yards from my friends yak. He got a little sketched out, but kept going and buttoned into a 10# fish shortly after. I quickly hooked into another fish and as I was releasing it. He said, "Dude, look, a Shark!" I said yeah right. He told me to turn around, and sure enough, I see a big tail fin just cruising about 10 yards off my stern and heading right towards me. The fish disappeared and my buddy starts giving me that "Hey no fish is worth it, and you have a kid on the way speech. So, I have to admit, I was a little freaked out, and decided to cut the morning trip short. Even though my buddy was totally sketched out, he made it out the next few mornings and we had fish on top all 3 days. Wasn't as crazy productive as it usually is this time of year, but the tides were a little off for us, and everything is a few weeks earlier than it normally is. We didn't see a shark the rest of the time though. Here are some pics

I would have thrown poop at the shark! And I would have plenty of ammo.
PS
Next time give your buddy a snickers bar before going out. According to research they prefer people who ate snickers bars.

I LOVE it when MY WIFE lets me fish

We actually weren't at Monomoy, but I guess it was close enough to freak him out. I don't know what kind of shark it was. Probably caught it's attention bringing fish to the side of the yak. Most likely a blue or something feeding on the fish that were around. It looked big enough for me to think twice about staying out there. Good little adrenaline rush that is for sure.
