Cape Cod Vacation 2017!

We usually camp in Eastham in June, which is beyond awesome because no crowds. This year, my mother-in-law decided recently she wants to come with us, and no room in the camper, so we rented a house. Unfortunately, kids had a ton of snow days, so school gets out very late, so we are in July. We will be in northern Wellfleet from July 23 - July 30.

Question to those who know the fishing there. In June, I always do a trip out of P-town with an awesome captain, we catch macs and liveline them for stripers. Can we do that at the very end of July, or is it dead up there?

And how bad is traffic at that time of year? If we want to watch the Orleans baseball team play a 7:00PM game, is it going to take me an hour to get there from Wellfleet? More? Less?

Thanks guys.

Jim,

As far as Cape traffic in July on any of the major routes...leave plenty of extra time. I stick to June now myself. It just gets silly traffic wise once kids get out of school.

Traffic then will be tough, but thats the Cape. It probably won't take an hour to the Orleans field, but better safe than sorry. Stop in to the Goose if your early...

You never know how the fishing will be. Conventional wisdom says it will be dead with the warm water, but I have hit big schools of bass at that time before. Could be swarming with bluefish. Can't really predict.

Check in with the Captain you charter, he will know.
