Troutin'

This forum should be renamed freshwater. Anyway-

Anyone been out? The trouting has been excellent. Went 5-7 yesterday on a northern MA river in four hours, all on flies. Local ponds and rivers are starting to produce as well- rumors are that the Ipswich will get some fish this week. Baldpate and PP have been doing well for a while (at least the bait guys have been cleaning up, I can't get them to eat flies in the stillwater).

Shaping up to be a great season!

I got 2 this weekend soaking gulp worms with a 2.5year old... in non-trout waters (stocked informally for a kids tournament every June I hear)

I've been out probably four or five time in the last two weeks and the fishing has been just plain stupid for rainbows around 16 inches. I can't eat anymore. Olive marabou woolly bugger gets the nod this year. Nothing on top yet.

A couple of "easy" limits from the "one man canoe"...

Yep, it's been a good helping of brookies and bows in my not-so-local waters... Good to hear others are having the same success! Lost my only brown of the year so far on Sunday- serious fish that I tried to manhandle to keep out of cover. Will be back for another crack at him soon!

I've been targeting pik's and bass.
Found a couple of small waters that were very productive.
There's still a few more to hit before yak season (for me, that is).

Then there's the salt season.....

I'm glad you said it... I can only catch just so many "cookie cutters" before I get bored. At least at The Big Lake there is a chance for a mawnsta. That should tide me over for a couple more weekends when the real fishing starts.

I stopped on my way back from uncovering the boat last night... it didn't take long to land a pair of brookies on a panter martin.. that 3rd and fianl fish took me into darkeness.. enough "bait" fishing time for some big stuff..

A good run is better than a bad stand!

ya know fishing the river i didn't get the same thrill
as being out in the boat

because it's to damn shallow ....
it's like your dragging them over the rocks to land-em

but then again "sight fishing" does get your heart pumping

The Nissitissit and Squannacook have been producing well. A bunch of natives can be found in the surrounding creeks as well. Here's a pretty one from yesterday.

Angry went to Honey Hole

But as feared........... it was a raging river
non conducive to troutin...for now

I had a shocking entrance going in however
my eyes scanning for other vehicles
so that.....................
i totally missed seeing the camouflaged stump on the road side
my right tire hit it and it launched me into the AIR.

That was a definite eye opener !!! LOL
